2023.06.06 05:36 electric_toes Does this sound like trickle-truth? Do you think he is lying about what happened?
My boyfriend’s story goes like this:
In December 2022 he met AP at a work do. He and AP spent the evening chatting, flirting, and talking about how they wanted to hook up but were both in relationships. Him with me, her married with a baby. He told AP that he planned to break up with me and said in vague terms that we had been “having issues”.
He stopped working in the same company as her less than a month after. And she worked in a different department so they wouldn’t see one other during shifts. After the work do, no contact for 3 months.
On March 17, 2023 AP instagram dm’d him saying “hi how’s it going?” and he didn’t reply (he showed me this message). The following evening (Saturday 18th) she came to his bar where he was working, telling him her husband had cheated on her and she needed someone to talk to. He clocked off and they had a few staffies.
She asked if they could go and talk somewhere quiet so they went to sit in a park. They were both drunk at this point (bf often does shots during shift too). He says she cried about her husband and tried to kiss him but he said no, then took her to another bar where they had a beer together.
Apparently kept trying to kiss him at this point and he continued to decline, saying “I know I said I was having issues with my girlfriend last time we spoke, but things are going well now and I don’t want to cheat on her.” Apparently AP kept pressuring him, saying “You’ve already cheated on her by being here with me, and if you don’t tell her I will.”
He called her a taxi at that point. Turns out AP lives in the same suburb as us so they decided to share a cab (stupid). When he sat down in the back seat she kissed him, and he said he kissed her back, the whole exchange lasting for about five seconds. Then he pushed her away and said “wtf are you doing?” They rode in silence to AP’s house which was the first stop. My boyfriend said he was crying in the taxi. When it stopped he stormed out of the car and began to walk off down the street, but she called after him saying “come back, just come back and talk about it, you seem really upset, just come and sit down for a bit. Besides, you’ve already lost her now and I’m gonna tell her myself.”
They sat in her parked car in her driveway and she gave him a beer (she had a pack in the car). She continued to cry about her husband and said she felt that she was a “wilted flower” that nobody wanted anymore, and asked if my boyfriend thought she was pretty. He reassured her that she was pretty, and then she straddled him and they made out for about 20 seconds. He said he gave up and kissed her back passionately at this pint because he felt that our relationship was already ruined. Then when she reached for him more intimately, he said he felt very uncomfortable and pushed her away.
Then they had an argument, she begged for him to stay and said she feels a “strong connection” with him that she “hasn’t felt in 3 years”. He said she should be focusing on her son. She said “I know I’m a good mother, I just want someone to fuck and if you break up with your girlfriend, let me know because I’m really into you.” He said “I don’t feel the same about you” and left.
I’m trying to decide whether they did have sex in the back of the car, and he just told me that they only made out because it sounds “better.”
Came home and told me straight away, but in total it was 3 hours between the time he finished work to when he got home. He said he paid in cash for the taxi (he usually does this) and I couldn’t trace when it was called. He came home with the beer can from her car in his hand, and it was empty or close to empty.
He admits that he knew she was trying to have sex with him and when she climbed on top of him he finally gave in, but then when she reached for him more intimately it “snapped him out of it” and he decided to stop.
I left him immediately after he told me and moved out. Just wondering if you guys think this sounds like half a story? Do you think it’s likely they did have sex? I have asked him to tell me the truth and he insists he has. His story stays the same every time he tells it, give or take a few quotes / things that were said between them.
He blocked her, we went to couples therapy (where he also insisted that they didn’t have sex) and has so far done everything right in the process of rebuilding our relationship.
But if they slept together it makes a big difference to me. I would appreciate anyone’s perspective on this story! Thank you so much.

2023.06.06 05:12 RIPMiuraSensei I have a loose plan for this story, just seeing where it goes.
Chapter 1 - Stranger
When Daglan woke up that morning he didn't see anything unusual. He had awoken from a drop of water falling from the ceiling as he did many mornings. His best friend Rozere was in the kitchen with her father cooking what smelled of eggs. The sun was shining through the cracks in the curtains and holes in the walls as it always did. What felt different? Then he heard voices outside, voices that grew louder and louder. At this point Rozere and her father Koshu had heard the commotion as well and stepped outside to see what it was. Daglan hastily followed suit, after finding his tunic and boots. Lying on the ground outside was a young man, no older than 25. He lay face up in the dirt wearing only baggy purple pants and a black conical hat covering his face. His long black hair seemed to be tied at the base of his head in a long spiky ponytail, his slender muscular body was covered in dozens of battle scars, and at his waist was a black katana with its sword tied firmly inside its sheath. Almost the entire town had crowded around him, murmuring and shifting anxiously. It wasn't often people arrived in town, mostly just traders on their way to and from Inoris, and that too was a rarity. "Back now people, give this man some room! And for the love of Reza, quiet!" Barked Doc Silvis as she pushed through the crowd. She immediately knelt down and felt his neck with her fingers. She paused for a moment and gave a very annoyed sigh, slapping away his hat. "He's alive alright. This dumbass is sleeping in the street." She gave the stranger a hard slap across the face, one that would have probably knocked him out, had he been awake. The crowd watched in awe as he yawned and scratched his nose, barely affected by Silvis. "What should we do?" Someone asked. "Do you know who he is?" Asked another. As the murmurs heighted Daglan could tell Silvis was getting fired up, over the years Daglan had gotten to know Silvis quite well, with all his escapades outside the town walls. Daglan knew better than anyone that Silvis hated when a patient ignored her, and more so when she had to repeat herself. "I said quiet! Don't you lazy bums have more important things to do?! Livani! Koreso! Aren't you two on watch?! Scram the lot of you!" A wave of fear crashed down upon the crowd and everyone began to disperse. All but Daglan, as Rozere pulled on his sleeve. "Come on Daglan," she hissed, keeping an eye on Silvis like she was some wild animal, "You don't want to make her angrier." "I'll be fine," he whispered, without looking back, his eyes stuck on the sleeping man. What was this feeling? It was like the feeling he got when Silvis healed his wounds, but not as warm. Almost closer to the feeling he got when abominations were near, when he ventures past the walls, but not as malicious. Before he knew it he was kneeling next to Silvis, watching her run her hand across his body, her hands glowing faintly, his curiosity bubbling. "He isn't cursed or hypnotized, I can't feel a single thing wrong with him. I do believe this man is really just asleep, and slept through a slap in the face." Silvis sighed. After a few moments she looked at Daglan with a tired smile, then frowned. "Thanks for being quite Daglan, now since you're gonna bum around, get to work hauling this bastard back to my infirmary and don't let him out of your sight. I want to know as soon as he wakes up." Daglan looked around to ask Rozere for help but she was already gone, how long had he been watching this stranger and Silvas? He looked down at the smiling, snoring face of the stranger, scooped under his arms, and with much difficulty began dragging the older, bigger boy to the infirmary. The infirmary was quiet today, there hadn't been a major abomination attack in quite a few weeks which didn't happen often. It wasn't long before Rozere came in with a grimace on her face and her fingers on her nose. "Honestly," she said in that strange nasally voice when you hold your nose, "I hate how much time you make me spend here. Between you getting hurt and my dad making me help Silvas, I can't get away!" She plopped down next to him and sighed. "So what's with this guy? Why are you still here with him?" "Silvas asked me to watch him and tell her when he wakes up. Apparently I can't let him leave till she talks to him." He shrugged, trying more to convince himself. She eyed him suspiciously, but immediately dropped the subject. "Did you notice his sword was tied closed? I wonder what that's about?" She reached out and placed a hand on his sword, and just then the weird energy the stranger gave off changed from similar to those of the abominations , to even scarier than anything he'd ever felt from them. Rozere fell to her knees and screamed as the stranger stood over her. When had he stood up?! Daglan shot to his feet, a smile ripping across his face as excitement crackled through his body. He prepared to defend his friend, when just as quickly as the evil energy had manifested, it disappeared. In fact the feeling Daglan had been getting from the stranger had all but subsided completely. He stared at Daglan and Rozere with a confused look. When Rozere had eventually stopped screaming, Daglan held out his hand to help her up. Daglan’s mind raced with questions but could he do nothing but stare at the stranger as he stared back. “Uh, hello-” he began and just then Silvas and Koshu burst through the door with Livani and Koreso close behind. Koshu sprang in between Rozere and the stranger, towering over him. "What did you do to my daughter!" He said through gritted teeth. The stranger scratched the back of his head and opened his mouth when Rozere spoke up, "It was nothing dad, he just woke up and scared me! Look at me I'm fine, now would you stop!" But Koshu didn't flinch, not until Silvas spoke up. "Back off Koshu, Rozere is right, she's fine, and this boy is obviously no danger at the moment." He mumbled something under his breath but did as he was told. "Yeah, listen to Silvas and not me." Rozere grumbled, crossing her arms. "Now listen here young lady, you will show your aunt some resp–" Koshu began but Silvas smacked him in the back of the head. "Now isn't the time, Koshu, take her and go," she glared at the stranger, who was still smiling awkwardly and scratching the back of his head. “Everyone out, now.” "Uh, where am I? He eventually stammered. "Daglan, out." Silvas said forcefully, without taking her eyes off the stranger. As well as Daglan knew Silvas, he'd never seen her this worked up, not even about the abominations . She was so strong-willed, so much more than anyone else in town. He had heard stories about Silvas, but only bits and pieces around town, probably all made up. Still there was one he heard more than others, he had heard before she lived in Graybarrow she had fought in some kind of war. Daglan sat outside the infirmary trying to hear as much as he could. Wondering what could have gotten Silvas so worried, and if that man was even human. He could barely hear anything, mostly Silvas's mumbled questioning and the nervous laughter of the stranger. As he sat and pondered, an extremely tall, wide shouldered man sat down next to him and lit a cigarette. He had a long thick mustache that covered his upper lip but came down on the sides past his chin, and scruffy brown hair that stuck up at weird angles. "Oh, hi Mr.Lucio." Daglan said as he pretended to have not been eavesdropping. "I haven't seen you in class," he said as he blew out a cloud of smoke, "and I don't often see you hanging around here by choice." He continued to puff his cigarette as they sat in silence. "Mr.Lucio… I can feel him like the abominations and Silvas's healing. What is he?" "I'm not sure, from what I've heard he sounds human enough. What do you think?" "I don't know… I think he's human? But why can I feel him?" "There must be something similar between him, Silvas's healing, and the abominations from the mountains and forest, hmm?" "I guess so…" They continued to sit in silence until Lucio had finished his cigarette. "You can always talk to me if you need help, Daglan. You may like getting experience more, but a little book learning can go a long way." He stood up, pressing his cigarette out between his fingers and putting the butt in his pocket. "It's always good to see you, don't be a stranger." He said as he waved his hand walking away. Daglan thought about what Lucio had proposed, something similar. It didn't seem like Silvas or the stranger would be coming out soon so Daglan decided to go home and see what Rozere thought about all this. When he did get home both Rozere and Koshu were in foul moods, having most likely fought since earlier. Deciding that he'd rather not be part of that, he grabbed his bag and scurried out the front door before Kusho had time to notice. It's a short walk to the gate, the guards had patched up his last hole in the wall, but he had since come up with another, more thrilling way. Climbing up to the top of the traders hall, he'd be high enough to jump to the wall once the guards had passed. Then it was a quick jump down and a sprint out of their eyesight before he was able to relax. He walked along a path he knew quite well until he came up on a small ladder, it was built into a tree that led up to a small treehouse. His exploration headquarters as he liked to call it. The inside was small and filled with trash, and his souvenirs from his adventures sat on a roughly made table. A small Salegitti skull, a broken dagger missing its tip, and a small crystal like rock that shown with faint yellow light. Next to them were three well worn books. He picked up the book titled journal and sat on the ground, scribbling furiously with a small piece of charcoal. He then began to study the other two, older, bigger books. One titled, Abominations of Hel’s Peaks, and the other, Creatures of South Shodun. Mr Lucio was right about book learning, but he liked his own books.
Back in town Rozere was wandering around with her hands behind her head, whistling to herself. “I wonder where Daglan is?” She pondered allowed, before realizing she had stopped in front of Silvas’s office. She stared at the large building with its off-white stone, and massive steel doors. There were various cracks and dents all along the wells and doors, as well as wooden planks over the windows, Silvas called them the clinic’s battlescars, there was nowhere safer to hide in the whole town. She stared for a long time before realizing there was a man sitting in the grass, a large bottle of alcohol in one hand, and multiple empty bottles sitting neatly by his legs. His long spiky hair was a little cleaner, and the copious amounts of drool were now wiped away. His face was a bright red, and he had a cigarette hanging from his lips. He stared at her with a slight wobble, “Hey… You're that girl that touched my sword right?” He took another large gulp from his bottle. “Yeah? What of it?” She asked with defiance, her hands on her hips. He smiled a sickening smile and shot to his feet faster than Rozere could see. “Why don't you try it again? Or will you simply scream for help? Little girls shouldn’t play with monsters.” He said as he towered over her. “Go ahead.” He lifted his arm in the air so his katana was unblocked. Rozere’s knees began to shake and a lump formed in her throat but she did not look away. She was an ant, and this man was a giant. She wasn't going to back down, but he could stand faster than she could see. Surely dropping his arm even faster would be no problem right? He was right, she wanted to scream, but she stood firm. “Maybe I will!” She returned his malicious smile and reached out for his sword as fast as she could, bracing for the impact and the horrible crunch of bones as he grabbed her arm and snapped it in half. She flinched as her nerves went off, electric sensations coursing through her fingertips. It's happened! But what she felt wasn't pain, but the hard yet somehow soft grip of a katana hilt. She opened her eyes to see her hand firmly gripping his katana and a much more playful smile somehow even wider across this strange man’s face. He began to laugh loudly as she stumbled backwards and fell. He held out his hand, still giggling a little. She eyed him hard then after a moment smacked his hand away. She stood up, and began to brush herself off, glaring at him all the while. He apologized in between giggles. “My name is Noboru, you've got quite the spirit to face me down. What's your name kid?” He asked as he sat back onto the grass and took another long swig from his bottle. Rozere straightened up and looked at him with a fiery gaze. “Rozere of Grayborrow.” She said, crossing her arms. “And you dont scare me!” “What are you yelling about Rozere?” Silvas asked as she appeared behind her. “You!” she exclaimed as she saw Noboru “Where did you get all of that from!? Rozere give me a hand and throw away these bottles would you?” “She's already gone.” Noboru giggled. Silvas spun around to see that Rozere had indeed disappeared, as Noboru began to laugh louder. Rozere could hear the slap from across town as she sat against the traders hall. As she pondered just how big a lump must be on the side of Noboru's face, a ball smacked her’s. “Hey who did that!?” She demanded as she hoped to her feat, tears forming in her eyes, which she quickly wiped away. “Oh, sorry Rozere! I didn't mean to! Honest!” Said the boy as he ran up and grabbed his ball off the ground before the evil Rozere could kick it away, her foot swishing in the air. The boy was a few years younger than Rozere, had shaggy blonde hair, a tunic that was two sizes too big for him and a pair of round glasses broken in several spots. “You better be sorry, pipsqueak!” she said, wiping her eyes and now running nose. “I'll have to beat you up if not!” “Come on give Vilcus a break he said sorry. What are you doing over here by yourself anyways? Daglan run away again?” Said another girl with little blonde pigtails and red cheeks, as she came up behind Vilcus. “Hi Meska and no he didn't run away again.” Rozere said, sticking her tongue out. “I just think he went for a walk is all… he'll be back… soon!” She crossed her arms and held her chin up. “Well why don't you come play with us until he gets back?” Meska asked, turning around and walking away, “We are playing dodgeball, maybe you can hit Vilcus in the face.” “Hey nuh-uh! She won't hit me!” Vilcus persisted as he followed after her. Rozere sniffled, rubbed her nose with her sleeve, and smiled. “Okay fine, but wait up!” She yelled.
As Daglan walked through the trees, he could feel the malicious energies from abominations all around him, it was making his blood boil. He remembered the stranger looking down at him and Rozere, overflowing with the most malicious intent he had ever felt. A smile began to creep across his face once more, as he could feel something close behind him. He spun around to see a creature he had only seen in books, the sight of which excited and terrified him.
A giant humanoid creature with a long smooth snake-like torso, and grotesquely elongated arms and legs stood before him. It had a small pair of arms on its hips that bounced as if boneless, and a strange human face. Smooth indents of skin sat where the eyes should be, and it had a beak lined with razor teeth that jutted out at multiple angles. It clicked its tongue and sniffed the air then began to lick its beak with what could only be called a smile. “What should I call you big fella?” Daglan asked nervously as excitement shot through his body. This wasn't like anything he'd ever encountered in the forest, or during attacks. This creature was much more dangerous. He gritted his teeth and forced an equally disgusting smile, even though he was sure the abomination couldn't see him. He pulled out the dagger he had smithed in secret at Koshu’s forge and dropped his stance lower, lower, lower. The creator was clicking and sniffing in anticipation, no doubt it could feel Daglan’s bloodlust. Daglan took a slow step forward, then another. The creature's head tilted and it sniffed harder, then in a flash that Daglan couldn’t even see, it lashed out, slashing his shoulder apart. Adrenaline had already made its way to Daglan’s brain and he didn't even feel the warm blood soaking into his tunic or notice his limp arm flailing behind him as he attacked. He rolled under the creature’s arm and slashed at its ribs ripping its open sending its guts pouring out. It screamed in pain and whirled around, but its tall body and long arms whizzed over Daglan’s head. He rolled again, this time in between its legs, slashing at its knee, cutting down to the bone. It screamed again and fell to its knees with a gross squishy thud from one. It twitched and spazzed as it began twisting its body around in a disgusting manner. Daglan approached cautiously, but the adrenaline had worn off and he looked down at his arm. It was almost completely blue, and the little skin and bone that held his arm to his body squirted copious amounts of blood. There was a blur then he was flying through the brush stopping when he thudden into a tree. His eyes began to blur with red, then black. The last thing he heard was a familiar voice… “You are by far the most interesting of the bunch. Hey, can you hear me?”
When Deglan awoke he was looking at a ceiling he knew all too well. In a bed he had awoken in many times. But this time he couldn't move. “Silvas! What's happening?! Silvas! Rozere!” Daglan began to thrash when he heard that same voice, “Hey hey hey! You're going to hurt yourself more than you already have!” When standing over him, blocking the light with his conical hat, was the stranger. “That was a nasty creature you were tangling with out there. I heard you like to fight but I'm guessing you've never seen a lasari before? Ugly things, and not easy to kill with small weapons if you don't know how.” “I do know how.” Daglan said matter of factly, “They have two brains located behind the eye sockets.” “Oh-ho-ho,” the stranger smiled maliciously, “ but how do you stop them from reproducing after that?” Daglan went silent for a moment. “What do you mean?” “Lasari have a fun ability to reproduce from their corpse. Specifically, their heart has two eggs inside that will hatch if it ever stops beating. So to properly kill one you must burn the heart.” He laughed and presumably sat back down, out of Daglan’s eyesight. There was a slight pause and Daglan was about to speak when he heard a gasp and the stranger continued. “Anyway, you almost lost your arm. Luckily, your doctor and blacksmith were able to fix you up, those two are something else. It'll take some time for your bo-” Daglan cut him off. “What do you mean I almost lost my arm?! What did they do to me?!” He exclaimed, thrashing, memories of his broken and bleeding arm flashing through his mind. “If you don't calm down, I will calm you down.” He said forcefully. “I hate babies. I thought you were supposed to be a tough kid? Now anyways it's just me and you here, everyone else is asleep, so please. I know you've heard of the metal prosthetics of this country, Metics, I think they're called? I’ve seen people in town with them. Well your blacksmith had to help your doctor make you a new shoulder.” “So why are you being so helpful? I don't know you, and you feel the same as an abomination.” “See it's things like that!” He shot back up his face noticeably red. “You're so interesting! I don't remember how I got here…” He scratched his head for a second, “but boy have I had fun since I've shown up!” Your girlfriend Rozere-” “She's not my girlfriend, and you leave her alone!” He shouted. “Well she's fearsome! And you’re so interesting too! Definitely the best five year o-” “I’m twelve. Rozere is thirteen.” “Well twelve then. Point is, I like you and your little girly friend, so I thought I'd help out and not let you die.” Then it dawned on Daglan, there was no way a search party found him like when he normally gets in a scap and passes. He had thoroughly lost and was deep in the woods. By all accounts he should be dead. Daglan was so angry he hadn't even thought about what happened afterwards. “It was you. So what do you want from me? Are you some abomination loo-” This time the stranger cut him off. “My name is Noboru, the handyman.” “I've never heard of that species.” “Well I'm not an abomination, I'm a jack-of-all-trades, so to speak. I travel from place to place making money doing odd jobs. Anyways, you remind me an awful lot of someone I used to know. So don't go throwing your life away against such low level trash as the abominations around here.” Daglan began to feel the intimidating malice from Noboru, almost that of when Rozere had touched his sword. “I know you can feel my energy. Unlike the people of this town, save a few, I think you're gifted.” Then it was gone just as quickly as before. “What do you want, Daglan.” Daglan’s blood was fire and his eyes daggers, piercing the ceiling with determination. “I want to be remembered.” “So get out of this town and maybe one day you can fight me, and I’m not even the strongest out there. Come… show this world what you're… made of because I for one… can't wait.” Just then Daglan heard a thud followed by an endless cascade of snores from Noboru. “Would someone get me out of here!”

2023.06.06 05:10 lordyhelpme-now AITA Caught husband peeing into cup
So I found (didn’t know he was doing this and walked in on him) my husband peeing into a cup. It’s an old ricotta cheese container actually. He looked like a deer in the headlights. He then dumped the cup of pee into the freaking sink. Rinsed and put cup into the cabinet. I’m standing there totally disgusted. This is my sink. (It’s an old house single sink - he usually during the day uses only the other bathroom down the hall). I brush my teeth here. I place my hairdryer and straightener in this sink while using. I lay my clothes over it when getting dressed. Oh my god he puts pee in there. He dumps it. Sloshed it with water once. Dumps that then he’s done. Says it’s no big deal and has done this for awhile now but I’m truly disturbed by this. Tried talking as I know standing for guys especially as they age is easier but dang stand at the toilet. He says he likes doing this better so he doesn’t really have to aim. I then said pour the pee into hmmmmm I don’t know maybe the toilet! Then use the shower to fill and rinse. Don’t use the sink! He completely dismissed my feelings. Said I’m overreacting. Help me understand. Is my telling him I am disgusted make me the asshole?

2023.06.06 04:57 MaIorbas Defending the Draft 2023: Los Angeles Chargers
Preface: There’s really no way to look back at the Chargers’ 2022 season without starting at the end. The team blew a 27-0 lead to the Jaguars in the wild card round in what can only be described as the peak of decades of cruelty by the football gods directed at the Chargers. In a year that began with Super Bowl aspirations thanks to an extremely talented on-paper roster, and included a regular season of injury after injury after injury (Justin Herbert, Rashawn Slater, Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, etc.), the finale could not have been more crushing. Criticism and ridicule has rained down on head coach Brandon Staley and offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi,
and the latter was promptly fired at the end of the season to the rejoicing of fans everywhere. But now we begin, again. The Super Bowl hopes are very much alive. The roster saw very few changes in free agency as the front office and coaching staff clearly believe the failure of the 2022 season was generally not an issue with the assembled players. But there is a much higher sense of urgency this year, and it’s not an exaggeration to say the team is going “all in” on the final cheap year of Justin Herbert’s rookie deal. Contracts have been structured in a way that will force significant cuts after the 2023 season just to get the team to salary cap compliance. This year may be do-or-die for both Tom Telesco and Brandon Staley.
Free Agency Recap
Losses:
G Matt Feiler, LB Drue Tranquill, EDGE Kyle Van Noy, QB Chase Daniel, CB Bryce Callahan, WR Deandre Carter, S Nasir Adderley, LB Troy Reeder, DL Breiden Fehoko, WR Michael Bandy, OT Storm Norton Five starters on this list: Feiler, Tranquill, Callahan, Carter, and Adderley. Letting Drue Tranquill leave is by far the most controversial decision here, especially since he ended up going to the Chiefs. He played very well last year, but seems like the idea here is that he was a factor in the defense’s struggle against the run. Feiler was a disaster last season after a great 2021, and Jamaree Salyer should be an immediate upgrade. Callahan is still a free agent and a reunion is not out of the question. Van Noy was great as a fill-in when Bosa was injured, but the team wants to get younger at the position. Carter was a quiet signing who outperformed his contract and provided much needed depth but again, too old. Adderley was benched in the season finale and then retired. The rest were backups and rotational players.
Additions: LB Eric Kendricks, DL Nick Williams That’s it, that’s the list. Eric Kendricks steps in as the starter next to Kenneth Murray who he can hopefully help mentor into being a good linebacker. And theoretically, he will be an upgrade in run defense over Drue Tranquill. Williams was signed after the draft as insurance for the injured Austin Johnson and Otito Ogbonnia. He may not make the team. The Chargers used most of the rest of their cap space re-signing free agents like Trey Pipkins, Morgan Fox, and Donald Parham. They still have about $12.5M to work with, pending the upcoming Justin Herbert mega-deal.
Draft Needs
WR: The trio of Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, and Josh Palmer is one of the best in the league. However, with their contracts, there’s really no chance Allen and Williams will be Chargers in 2024. This group also lacks a speed element.
EDGE: Similar to WR, the starting duo of Bosa and Mack is elite but they are expensive and getting older. The depth behind them is just Chris Rumph.
TE: Gerald Everett is solid but on the last year of his deal. Donald Parham has potential but can’t stay healthy. Tre’ McKitty is a blocking TE who isn’t a very good blocker.
CB: JC Jackson is an enormous question mark, both from a health and performance standpoint. Michael Davis is a free agent after 2023. Ja’Sir Taylor is penciled in as the starting slot corner after very limited playing time last year.
OL: This is the strongest starting five the Chargers have had in a decade but the depth behind them both inside and out is weak.
LB: Eric Kendricks and Kenneth Murray will start, but Murray is auditioning to be on the team next year and Kendricks is old. The depth behind them is just Nick Niemann and Amen Ogbongbemiga.
S: JT Woods was a 2022 3rd round pick but barely played in 2022. Alohi Gilman stepped up when needed, but relying on him to start is risky.
RB: Austin Ekeler requested a trade, and even though it looked very unlikely to happen, the team needs to think about life after him in 2024. Neither Josh Kelley or Isaiah Spiller have shown they can handle a full workload.
KPR: With Deandre Carter’s departure, the team has no one with real return experience.
The Draft
1.21: Quentin Johnston - WR, TCU In hindsight, this pick should have been more obvious. The Chargers have been very strict about their size thresholds for wide receivers over the years, and despite countless debates about Johnston vs Zay Flowers vs Jordan Addison, the big guy from TCU won out. This was an immediately controversial pick among fans as many believed the speedy Flowers or the crafty Addison would be more suited to filling the biggest need in this position group: speed and separation. But while Johnston may not be your traditional deep threat, his game speed and GPS tracking data suggest a more dynamic skillset than he showed at the combine. And one area where he does beat those two guys that was probably overlooked as a need: run after catch ability. Johnston was elite at that in college, and that looks to be his primary role for the Chargers. New OC Kellen Moore will use him like he did Ceedee Lamb in Dallas. And since he will start the year at number three on the depth chart at best, he won’t be under pressure to carry the offense as a rookie while he learns from the veterans in front of him.
2.54: Tuli Tuipulotu - EDGE, USC After WR, the Chargers’ clear next biggest need was at EDGE and Tuli was the consensus best available. The team has also shown a penchant for drafting local kids from USC and UCLA over the last few years. He was extremely productive in his final season in college where he put up 13.5 sacks playing both on the edge and the interior. In the draft process, many people questioned if he would bulk up to be a full time DT or slim down to play the EDGE. It ended up being the latter as he weighed 266lbs at the combine. Tuli will provide valuable depth behind Bosa and Mack as a rookie, while also having the opportunity to play inside on passing downs like he did in college.
3.85: Daiyan Henley - LB, Washington State The Chargers lost two linebackers to free agency: Drue Tranquill and Troy Reeder. Tranquill was the team’s best coverage linebacker, and Reeder was key depth while also being a core special teams player. Enter Daiyan Henley, who could fill both of those roles by himself. With Kenneth Murray likely off the team in 2024, Henley has the opportunity to earn a starting job over the course of the season. He is a recent convert to the linebacker position and there is still much room for growth. At the very least, he will be an immediate special teams contributor. Staley and Telesco both raved about his prowess in that phase of the game after picking him.
*
4.125: Derius Davis - WR, TCU * Another TCU receiver! This pick was definitely a surprise, as many people projected him to be a late day 3 pick. But the Chargers coaching staff said after the draft that they believed he was the best return man available, and that they wanted to draft a starter in the 4th round. Davis was indeed one of the best returners in the country at TCU, and also can add some juice on offense even if he ends up limited to a gadget role. Either way, here’s some killer speed for the Chargers offense.
5.156: Jordan McFadden - OL, Clemson In the last few drafts, the Chargers have shown a lot of love for late round tackle-to-guard converts. Jamaree Salyer was the steal of the 2022 draft in the sixth round. McFadden played both tackle and guard in college on both sides of the line, and some scouts believe he may even be able to play some center. For the Chargers he will compete with Brenden Jaimes for the swing guard role, and maybe even push Foster Sarrell to be the swing tackle. Key depth for a position group that needed it.
6.200: Scott Matlock - DL, Boise State Matlock is a solid run defender with some pass rush upside who will get to learn behind a strong trio of veteran starters. And with Austin Johnson and Otito Ogbonnia both rehabbing major knee injuries, he may end up seeing some decent playing time this season. I’m very intrigued by his upside, and Staley has a good track record of getting good play from late round DTs.
7.239: Max Duggan - QB, TCU The Los Angeles Horned Frogs are ready to take the NFL by storm in 2023 (hopefully to face the Philadelphia Bulldogs in a championship rematch). The Chargers historically have carried three QBs on the active roster, and with only two signed going into the draft, it seemed like a strong possibility they would pick one. So here’s Max Duggan, who despite leading TCU to the Natty was generally not loved by scouts. He has a ton of athletic ability but the finer points of playing QB need to be worked on. There is absolutely potential to be a long term backup to Justin Herbert though, if he can beat out Easton Stick.
Notable UDFAs Jerrod Clark - DL, Coastal Carolina: Most people expected Clark to be drafted, and the Chargers gave him a lot of money for a UDFA. I would not be surprised at all to see him make the roster as an additional run defender.
Cam Jones - CB, Ohio State: Another guy who could have been drafted, there are depth spots at corner up for grabs and Jones is an intriguing option.
Tiawan Mullen - CB, Indiana: Mullen used to have a pretty high draft stock but fell hard in the process. The Chargers are thin at slot corner and he could earn a role.
Mikel Jones - LB, Syracuse: There’s a wide open competition for ILB5 that will most likely be decided by special teams.

2023.06.06 04:55 CasualCompetive Possible Polybius Square in Website connected to Polybius Urban Legend
In 2017, Youtuber "Ahoy" made the video "POLYBIUS - The Video Game That Doesn't Exist". In it, he tracks down the origins and influences of popular video game urban legend, Polybius. He concludes that Polybius was started by Kurt Koller, who owns the website
coinop.org. Ahoy concludes this because, among other reasons, the earliest known reference to Polybius is an article on the game on
coinop.org. When Ahoy emailed Kurt asking if he was responsible for the addition of the game to the site, he responded "[Polybius's entry's] wording on coinop.org is very specific. That is all [he] is allowed to comment on." Ahoy tries to see if there is code hidden inside of the article, taking note of the fact that "disappeared" is spelled "disappeard". He tries to see if there is code that can fit into a Polybius Square, a popular method of encoding. A Polybuis Square works by having a 5 by 5 letter grid be the recorder. Every square in the grid has a letter inside, the code is a group of numbers with both digits being through 1-5. For example, in a grid with a standard alphabet code, the code "44 23 15 41 45 24 13 25 12 42 34 52 33 21 34 53 24 45 32 35 43 34 51 15 42 44 23 15 31 11 55 54 14 34 22" outputs to "the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog". Anyway, Ahoy ultimately turns up fruitless. I tried to see if I could decipher a code hidden inside as well. I took note of the fact that "disappeared" has three letters that appear twice in the word while "disappeard" only had two. I made a C++ program that would take in the article and see all the words that had multiple pairs of letters and produces a code. Every time I ran the program, I changed a factor (the number of letter pairs in each word, whether to delete duplicate words, what information contributes to the code , etc.) What I found interesting, is the case when the code was that for every number of the code, the first digit is the index of the first mention of the first duplicate letter in the word and the second digit is the index of the first mention of the second duplicate letter. In that case, both the first and second digits of the numbers are between 1-5. Still, after experimenting and playing around with the parameters for a couple of days, I have turned up blank. I am at the end of my rope. Below I have left a C++ algorithm as well as a few other resources if someone else wishes to try to decipher this. Obviously, it is possible that there is no secret message at all and that I am on a wild goose chase.

2023.06.06 04:54 HeadOfSpectre The Silver Baron - 5
July 7th Excerpt From the Journal of Violet Stone
I don’t remember much. Just the scenery flying by me as I ran from the train station. I didn’t see anyone chasing me. But I felt chased. I didn’t know what to think, what to feel, or even where the hell I was going. The only thing I felt was fear.
When I finally stopped, it was because I just couldn’t run any further. My lungs burned, begging me for air. So I ducked into an alley, trying to catch my breath, and organize my thoughts. The rain pounding down around me was too loud. The street was too quiet and every car that passed by sent another fresh jolt of terror through me as I replayed what had happened at the train station over and over again in my mind. The way that he’d fallen, the look on his face in the instant before he’d gone under the train. Oh God… I couldn’t get it out of my head! I couldn’t stop seeing it in my mind!
I wanted to go home, but was that even an option? How the hell does someone just go home after something like that? I couldn’t just waltz through the door like nothing was wrong! If Sam and Lisa didn’t notice, Rose sure as hell would and that assuming that the police weren’t already there. Someone could have recognized me! That Marilyn Monroe looking girl on the platform had gotten a good look at me. What if she told someone? It didn’t matter whether I’d meant to push the guy or not! It didn’t matter how much I’d fucking hated him at the time. He was dead. I was responsible. I’d pushed him. It was my fault.
‘I’ve just fucking killed a man!’
That thought… that reality didn’t feel real. It hadn’t truly hit me yet.
‘I’ve just fucking killed a man!’
I felt sick. If I actually had anything in my stomach, I might have even thrown up. Moving made me feel even worse, so I just stood there, letting the rain soak me to the bone, shaking from the horror and the cold while I tried to figure out what the hell I was going to do next. But all I could think about was the way he looked as the train went over him, and wondering if anything would have changed if I’d at least tried to grab him. Could I have caught him? Could I have saved him? What then? What would happen next? As far as I knew that motherfucker had murdered my goddamn parents! Should I really have even bothered trying to save him? Maybe I should have felt vindicated by all of this? Maybe this was some kind of justice, right? It sure as hell didn’t feel like justice. It’s not like I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that this had been the guy! There were doubts! There were a lot of fucking doubts!
I heard the sirens in the distance. But nobody came for me. I saw a police cruiser pass my alley. It didn’t stop for me, but it did make me think about my sweater. The goddamn sweater… it would probably be enough to identify me, right?
For a moment, I thought about turning myself in to the police. I mean, maybe once I told them that it was an accident, then maybe they’d be cool with it and let me go? I mean, the police are just known for being trustworthy and reasonable, right? What did I possibly have to worry about with them? I could just turn myself in and everything would be hunky fucking dory! ‘Oh, you just threw a man in front of a fucking subway train! Yeah, no big. Go home! Take a load off! Get some coffee! Try not to think about the man you just threw under a fucking subway train!’ Yes! Go to the police Violet! Great idea! And while you’re at it why don’t you do it in the fucking nude too? GREAT IDEA VIOLET! ALMOST AS GREAT AS THE TIME YOU THREW A MAN IN FRONT OF A FUCKING SUBWAY TRAIN! REMEMBER THAT?
I took off the sweater and abandoned it in the nearest dumpster. I hid it under some trash bags and hoped to God that nobody would ever find it, then, after standing in the rain like an idiot for several minutes with no idea on where to go next, I started walking home.
Nobody noticed me.
Nobody followed me.
The city was just… quiet. Not quiet, quiet. But nothing felt out of place. The world around me almost felt normal, and it was my own fault that the normalcy felt wrong somehow.
I entered my old bedroom through the fire escape, just like I used to back in high school when sneaking out at night to drink was the worst thing I’d ever done. I could hear people in the apartment, and I listened to see if any of the voices were unfamiliar. I heard Sam and Lisa talking over breakfast, and I could hear the TV. Nothing out of the ordinary. It satisfied me enough that I was safe. I locked my bedroom door and crawled into bed, pulling the covers over my head and listening to the rain and the voices outside. But I heard nothing out of the ordinary. It was like nothing had happened. Like it was all just a bad dream. Eventually, I fell asleep.
I stayed in bed until well after noon, staring up at the ceiling when I couldn’t sleep anymore. Sam and Lisa both left for work. I could hear Rose going around the house. She’d said that she had the day off, save for classes in the evening. She only bothered me once, though. Knocking on my door to check on me. I told her I was sick, and she didn’t pry. She didn’t sound suspicious. Just concerned.
I kept replaying what had happened at the subway station over and over again in my head. I couldn’t stop thinking about it and I couldn’t stop hating the quiet around me.
Sometimes, I wondered if it was just a bad dream. If maybe I’d never even left my room at all. Maybe I just wanted to believe that. It was better than thinking I’d just killed someone. There was a part of me that didn’t really seem to care. It still hadn’t fully hit me yet. After all, no one had come for me. So maybe it really was just a bad dream? Even if it hadn’t been, how had that man known who my Mom was? What about the things he’d said? Was it just a weird coincidence, or a horrible mistake? Maybe it was both.
I checked my phone when the afternoon began to slip into evening. The whole event was getting hazier in my mind. I was starting to convince myself it hadn’t happened. Lisa had messaged me, asking how I was feeling. Rose must’ve told her I was sick. I lied and said I was feeling a bit better, then I checked the news.
When I read the story I felt sick all over again. No name for my victim, no information at all. The man who’d gone under the train was just identified as ‘a man.’ That was it. Nothing else. There wasn’t even a picture of him.
There was however a picture of me… kinda.
It was blurry as hell. I tried to make out my own face amongst the black and white pixels but I couldn’t. It might have been me as I entered the station, although my hood was over my head, my hair was covered, and the only thing I could sort of identify was my lips, which aren’t exactly that distinct. Really, it could have been anyone in that picture. Anyone at all.
‘An unknown possible suspect’ It said under the picture. Followed by: ‘The suspect is believed to be male, approximately 6’2 and was last seen wearing a grey hoodie and jeans.’
They got the outfit right, and were only a little off with the height by two inches.
All in all… I can’t say that any of this really seemed damning to me. Although the idea that the police (or at least the news) had no idea who I was didn’t do a whole hell of a lot to calm me down. The idea of ‘getting away with it’ seemed just as bad as being caught.
For the second time that evening, I wondered about turning myself in to the police. I mean, this wasn’t exactly first degree murder. It was an accident! That had to be at least manslaughter, right? I mean, it was still a crime but it wasn’t first degree murder, right?
Christ… I was probably committing an even bigger crime by not coming forward! Why wasn’t I going to the nearest police station? What the hell was stopping me? Fear? Fear of what, consequences? You don’t fucking kill a man and not suffer any consequences! Even if it was an accident, there had to be some kind of consequence, right?
Was it justice? Assuming that this guy really had been the one who’d killed my parents all those years ago, did he really deserve to die like that? Thrown screaming under a train and… and…
God I didn’t even know if it was really the guy or not! It could have been anyone! He could’ve just randomly known my Mom and just so happened to look like her killer! It wasn’t even a perfect resemblance! I mean, fuck, how many fucking people in New York have blond hair, blue eyes and glasses? Thousands at least! Justice wasn’t a valid excuse! It just wasn’t!
I wanted to continue to lie there and stew, but I don’t know if that was really an option anymore. Slowly, I forced myself to get out of bed and head into the kitchen. I’d eaten nothing all day, which wasn’t all that healthy of a diet. As a further fuck you to my digestive system, I rummaged through the cupboard. There was a box of off brand pop tarts that I jammed them in the toaster for breakfast, if you could still call it that at five in the evening.
While I waited for my sugar enriched breakfast to ‘cook’ I raided the fridge for a drink. I found some OJ, and wandered into the living room. Rose had already left for class, but I knew Sam and Lisa would have been home soon.
When they did come home, they found me in the living room, under a blanket and finishing my shitty off brand pastries. Lisa fussed over me, like I knew she would. Sam just took over the TV and changed the channel to something other than the news.
I went to bed early last night, checking the news stories again on my phone before lying awake in bed. I might have slept a little. I couldn’t really say. I was just alone with my thoughts.
I’m not supposed to go back to Toronto for another day or so. But maybe I could leave early? Fuck off, leave all of this behind me and try to move on with my life? Sam and Lisa wouldn’t question it… much. That sounded like a horrible idea though. Just… fucking off, forgetting, pretending that this didn’t happen. It sounded like a mistake. Running away seemed like the exact kind of thing that would come back to bite me in the ass… and then what would I do? Was I supposed to just keep running from it? I knew in my gut that this would only ever make things worse. What would that do to Sam and Lisa? What would it do to Rose? I didn’t want to find out. I didn’t want to put them through that!
As I lay in bed a quiet resignation settled over me… and oddly enough, with it came a bit of peace. I guess even if no one else ever found out about what had happened at Prince Street, even if I took that secret to my grave, it would still gnaw at me. I’d still be looking over my shoulder, waiting for the day to come when it caught up with me. I didn’t want to deal with that. I didn’t want to put my family through that!
So I made a decision.
I don’t know if this will be my final entry or not.. I might not be coming back after this. Sam, Lisa, Rose… if any of you are reading this, I’m sorry. I swear to God, I didn’t mean for any of this to happen.
I’m going to go to the police in the morning and I’m going to turn myself in. So if this is it… well… goodbye.
I hope you don’t hate me too much.
***
Okay, so what the fuck?
I did the right thing! I turned myself in to the police! I was ready to go to jail over this!
Instead, I’m back in my old bedroom at Sam and Lisa’s and I’m 99.9% sure that I’m off the hook.
I went to the police station. I told them that I was there to confess and up until that point, things went as expected. They took me to an interrogation room and I waited for someone to come and talk to me. I was in there for about an hour, fidgeting aimlessly with my hands and waiting for some kind of judgment before someone finally bothered to show up.
The guy who walked through the door had a sort of ex military look to him. His eyes were intense and he had a muscular physique with a neatly trimmed goatee. He didn’t say a word to me as he came in. He just looked down at the file in his hands before sitting down at the desk.
“Violet Stone, right?” He asked. Straight to business. I always thought that Detectives were supposed to come off as friendly at first. This guy seemed like he’d come in with the express purpose of kicking my ass.
“Yeah, I’m Violet.” I said.
He looked up at me, sizing me up for a moment before huffing.
“Alright… well Violet, well my name is Vincent Bennett. I’m the Detective assigned to the Arthur White case. I understand you’re here with information, correct?”
Arthur White? Was that the name of the guy I’d killed?
“Yeah… I was… I was the one on the subway platform with him.”
“The one who pushed him?” Bennett asked.
I hesitated for a moment before nodding.
“It… it was an accident!” I said, “He’d grabbed my arm, I was just trying to get him off of me!”
“Right… tell you what Violet, why don’t you walk me through what happened yesterday morning, okay? Tell me everything that you remember.”
I did just that. I told him about how I’d run into Arthur and his daughter while I’d been out on a jog, I told him about how he’d mentioned my mother and how I’d followed him, and finally I told him about what had happened on the subway platform.
The whole time, Bennett just took notes and nodded quietly, only pausing a few times to ask a question.
“So - you attest that it was an accident, that Mr. White fell into the path of the oncoming train?” He asked.
“Yeah… yeah, it was.” I said.
“Okay. You mind if I ask why it took so long for you to come forward?” He asked, “I mean… this happened yesterday morning. It’s been at least twenty four hours.”
“I was panicking!” I said, “Look, I didn’t know what to do or if I should come forward or what!”
“A man was killed,” Bennett replied. “And you fled the crime scene. You also took a while to come forward. Forgive me if I find any of that suspicious.”
“Well, I’m trying to do the right thing now!” I argued although Bennett’s stony expression didn’t seem to change much.
“Miss Stone… are you aware of who Arthur White is?” He asked. “Do you know much about the White family?”
That question of his seemed awfully loaded.
“No, why are they important?” I asked.
“Depends on which circles you run in,” Bennett replied. “I’m gonna be honest with you… Arthur White was a real piece of shit. I wouldn’t really call him the worst member of the White family. Arguably he made the rest of them look saintly in comparison. But he was still a man with a… history. You say he resembled the man who you believed killed your parents… was that your only motivation for following him to the Prince Street station?”
“He mentioned my Mother by name!” I said, “He said he knew Diana Stone!”
Bennett paused, before looking up at me again.
“You’re Diana Stone’s daughter?” He asked.
My brow furrowed.
“What, you knew her too?” I asked.
“I’ve… heard the name before.”
My heart skipped a beat.
“So he did kill them…” I said softly, “You’re telling me that he did kill them?”
“Arthur White was not a suspect in the Diana Stone murder, no. His-”
Bennett’s phone started to ring before he could finish whatever it was that he was trying to say. His ringtone was the opening riff of ‘Phantom of the Opera’ by Iron Maiden.
He paused, tensing up a little at the sound of the ringtone. Then he quietly reached into his pocket to take his phone out. He stared at the screen, which depicted a big red X on it, before quietly standing up.
“Excuse me,” He said softly as he left the room, and for a few minutes, I sat there in the uneasy silence, waiting for him to come back. I found myself fidgeting with my hands again as I looked over at the mirror that dominated the wall to my left. I figured that there had to be someone behind it, watching me. Maybe it was Bennett? I squinted, trying to see if I could see him behind the glass, but there was no luck.
The only thing I saw was my own reflection, squinting back at me like an idiot and the security camera in the corner behind me. I looked back up at the camera, staring into it for a moment. I wondered if maybe Bennett was watching me through there. Maybe nobody was watching me? It was hard to say. I stared back into the iris of the camera for a moment, before the door opened again and Detective Bennett came back in. I saw him stuffing his phone back into his pocket.
Something about his demeanor had changed, but it was hard to say exactly what. When he spoke to me again, his tone was much quieter.
“Thank you for your time, Miss Stone. We have all we need. You’re free to go.”
Free to go?
“Wait, what?” I asked. “I… I just killed a guy! What do you mean I’m free to go!”
“You indicated that Mr. White’s death was an accident, correct?” Bennett asked. “That’s all we need. Go home, kid.”
I stared at him in disbelief. He was just letting me go? I’d fucking killed a man and they were just letting me go? That didn’t make any sense!
“So that’s it?” I asked, “You’re not going to arrest me or… or press charges or…?”
“No. We’re not,” He said. “You’re free to go.”
He picked up his folder and headed for the door again, pausing before looking up at the camera and then back to me. He held the door open for me, and after a moment, I got up and followed him.
“Do I need to get a lawyer?” I asked.
“That won’t be necessary,” He replied as he led me back through the police station. Once we were back at the front door, he pushed through and gestured for me to follow.
Once we were outside, I watched him take out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter.
“So that’s just it, then?” I asked. This whole thing still confused me.
Detective Bennett still didn’t reply. He just looked up toward the building, before taking a drag on his cigarette.
“Take my advice, kid… don’t ever look a gift horse in the mouth. It might not always be so pretty on the inside,” He didn’t look at me as he said that. He started down the steps of the police station, before pausing. “And do yourself a favor, keep your head down for the next little while.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” I asked, but Detective Bennett was already walking away from me.
I’m not an idiot.
Something isn’t right here. I just don’t know what.
I keep thinking back to the phone call Bennett got. I’ve got a feeling that it had something to do with my sudden release. What I don’t know is what or why and to be honest, I’m not sure that I want to find out.
Bennett told me to keep my head down, and I’m smart enough to take his advice.
I’m leaving tonight.
I’m going to let Sam, Lisa, and Rose know over dinner. I’ll think of some bullshit excuse. Maybe I’ll say that it’s a work thing, or something. They’re not going to check. I’m supposed to be heading home in a couple of days anyway, so they’re not going to think too much of it if I leave early.
Either way, whatever the hell I’ve gotten myself into, I want to get out of it sooner rather than later.

2023.06.06 04:50 Irelian_Fervor Can any creature attack my raft?
Hey guys. I'm a newbie to this sub and to the game. Started playing two days ago and I got hooked to be honest. Unfortunately, it was hard to progress because I die every five minutes. Either some Raptor would invade my territory or some stupid Carnotaurus would ambush me while I hunt for some dodo.
It was frustrating.
Anyway, I decided to just go to this island, that according to a stranger in the internet, is safe. No pesky Dilos spawn there. Only peaceful dinosaurs. Problem is, I found where the island is and I swam towards it. It was stupid of me to jump into the ocean without thinking about it.
I wasn't halfway when I got attacked and died. I did it thrice. And now, I camped on the beach and built raft. And yes, it was a long process because I had to watch out for the Spinosaur at the opposite side of the river.
And now I am afraid of using the raft to cross the ocean because something might attack me and all my hardwork is there.
So...will something try to destroy my raft in the ocean? Can I become a pirate?

2023.06.06 04:50 blowawaythedust I watched Porgan's entire 45-minute whine fest so you don't have to!
(Edited to add: I absolutely did not watch from their YouTube channel. I watched through a third-party link)
I almost counted the number of duck faces Morgan pulls during this video, but I think my brain would explode, but I did count hair touches! Let’s get into it.
0:15 – OMG this video is UnIqUe and SpEciAL, guys
0:25 – prayer for Sky Daddy to use their words in the white – I mean, RIGHT way, ft. Morgan’s SUPER weird “Ay-MAYn” at the end
0:57 – Youtube influencer is not an EASY profession; this “heat” we’re taking is affecting our BRAND DEALS (Morgan hair touch #1)
1:17 – shameless Patreon plug
1:30 – Morgan has prepared a monologue which Paul interrupts before she even begins. Sterilized statement about how they definitely believe people were hurt by the IBLP and that those people deserve to heal. “We believe that anyone who tries to use the word of God to manipulate and control people will be held accountable, maybe in this lifetime, but most certainly in the next lifetime.” “These documentaries serve a purpose” but they aren’t made by Christians (how can they even TELL that?), so they are Bad. “They don’t allow the gospel to be shared.” These kinds of documentaries push the deconstruction of Christianity as the only option, obviously. (Total hair touches during this section: 8.)
4:53 – “Look at my wife, she can read! Isn’t she cute?” – Paul, probably (Morgan looks so thrilled to have been allowed to speak for that long) (2 hair touches during his praise)
5:10 – Our patrons (all eleven of them!) wanted all the deets so that’s why we’re doing this! Not for the attention, you see!
5:30 – Morgan: “You may not care at all, which makes me wonder why are you even on this video.” For science, Morgan! For science! I need to know how many times one human can touch their hair in 45 minutes!
5:45 – Paul’s like, “these documentaries aren’t factual! These people are in it for the money! They’re trying to make entertaining content, so you’ll watch and give them more money!” Me: super side eye emoji (Hair touch count up to now: 12)
Guys guess what! Integrity wasn’t a leading goal for the film makers! They’re not like US!!! WE definitely wouldn’t do something just for money because we’re GOOD CHRISTIANS.
6:50 – They were super cautious going into this, just so that we all know. There were back and forths! “We knew someone who went on the Bachelorette! But don’t watch it or anything, for sure.” “We’ve seen how they twist situations to villanize ppl on these shows – especially Christians for SURE – and we told them we don’t WANT that mess.” “They told us they wouldn’t do that and we believed them, guys.” (Morgan hair touches during this section: only 1!)
8:20 – AgEnDa-DriVeN DoCuMeNtArY
9:00 – Fucking finally they’re getting to the story. They say they were reached out to about a year ago and ignored it, then were kind of hounded into it. It was pitched to them as a docuseries about how reality TV has affected online Christian influencers. They were cautious but thought it could be “cool” and “neat.” The production team said it was going to be like the “LuLaRich” docuseries, which Morgan really enjoyed. (Morgan touched her hair TWELVE times in two and a half minutes. Total now: 25)
11:30 – Side note: I’ve never watched a full video of theirs before. Does Paul always constantly correct Morgan or is this a special case for their special video? Every time he does it, she looks away from him and I can literally SEE her resetting and shoving any irritation down to deal with later (or never, ya know).
Also, they’re pissed bc in LuLaRich, there were all sides to the story, whereas in SHP there were not, but guess what Porgan – if you watch to the end of the final episode, it says the production team reached out to other parties and they declined to appear on the series. They were given an opportunity and turned it down, so…
12:00 – WE DIDN’T EVEN KNOW WHAT THE IBLP WAS, YOU GUYS! WAAAH
(I think I missed a hair touch but I WILL NOT rewind this shit AGAIN)
12:45 – Paul’s family “touched the surface” of IBLP, but it was “very very little.” His parents thought most of it was “too extreme.” (2 hair touches)
13:00 – They made sure there wasn’t an NDA “PrAiSe GoD.” (1 hair touch)
13:45 – Paul demonstrates he has no idea how long pregnancy lasts – “You were what, 12 months pregnant at the time?” “12 WEEKS, idiot” (she didn’t say idiot but I WISH she had)
14:15 – But they TREATED us so WELL when they interviewed us!?!?!? They were SO NICE!?!?
14:34 – “It’s not like we’re idiots!” Au contraire, my Polio
15:00 – Evidently they talked about “heavy, cultural topics” during the interview but it was all cut. Paul confesses there’s “some overlap” between what they believe and what the IBLP teaches. The production team told them if they had merch or a book, to release it alongside the docuseries bc “you guys are about to blow up.” (total hair touches: 29 so far)
16:43 – Watching the docuseries: We may have made an oopsie. (Porgan, basically) Also, Morgan didn’t know what the phrase “bad actors should be exposed” meant. Wtf.
17:15 – Bad ppl should get in trouble, victims should be heard. “Where do we fit in this docuseries? Oh wait…” (3 more hair touches)
18:00 – We made a video condemning Josh Duggar! Doesn’t anybody remember that??? (2 hair touches)
19:15 – I will not say that Morgan is self-medicating in any way, but if she HAD been, it would have kicked in about now. She slurs her way through “differentiation” and it’s truly painful to watch. Also neither of them has heard of the Joshua Generation, but I’m assuming it’s only bc Luca isn’t old enough for them to start receiving emails and pamphlets about it yet. I got several when my kids were about eight and nine-ish. (There was a BIG hair touch here, so I’m counting it as two; sue me)
20:15 – “It was NOT a 360 view! It was a 180 view – which Paul accidentally wrote – “ “Ha, yeah. Right.” Did NOT look pleased about that comment from Morgan and he steamrolled through it. Morgan says the ppl who have deconstructed HATE faith, God, anyone who believes, religion – Paul says that’s sure what it felt like to him. Also guys, did you know that we are out to DESTROY people like them? I didn’t even know bc I’m having too much fun watching them destroy themselves.
21:15 – “Experts” in BIG finger quotations that were interviewed who are no longer Christians are STRUGGLING in life – I’m sure it’s not because they were abused or anything; it’s definitely the WORLD, Paul. For sure. (1 hair touch – total so far: 35)
22:02 – Jen gets a shoutout!
22:25 – We are the “fringe on the other side,” guys! Thinking about making that my new flair fr.
22:45 – More slurring from Morgan – don’t worry, she’s not mad! She stands by everything she said in all the clips they played. She’s only mad bc they LIED to them about what they were using their soundbites for. (4 hair touches)
23:32 – I’m going to die before this video ends. Someone send help.
23:50 – The other people interviewed for the series seem hurt, confused, struggling in their lives. (Not the vibe I got, but go off I guess)
24:00 – OMG you guys, there's a reddit hate group of TROLLS that hate Christians! We should definitely stay away from THAT place omg!!!
The documentary had an AgEnDa. Paul pauses here for a DEEP SIGH.
24:45 – Morgan says the documentary is saying that anyone who thinks homeschooling, order of leadership, going to church is a good thing is an extremist, terrible, fringe, awful. IBLP took a little piece of the Bible and ran with it (sound familiar? Bueller? Anyone?). (4 hair touches)
25:35 – They aren’t like that, so don’t worry! Figure it out on your own, using your own Bible! They aren’t perfect at all and don’t pretend to be! (if I roll my eyes any harder, they will get stuck in the back of my head)
26:23 – Pissed bc in the series, they are presented as the Joshua Generation, they spend a moment comparing the Joshua Generation to the left – liberal colleges, LGBTQ movement, pro- choice movement, etc. Reiterate they don’t know what the Joshua Generation is, tho. Leftists are trying to take over the world, apparently. “Gaslighting” and “hogwash” were said in this rant. (only one hair touch! Total so far – 44)
29:ish – Morgan promotes Jinger’s book, Paul corrects her word choice (AGAIN, Jesus). The GOSPEL is in that book, but not in this docuseries! Spoiler: Jinger did it right bc she “disentangled” not “deconstructed,” and got right with the word of GAWD. (1 hair touch)
30:45 – “If you haven’t deconstructed, you’re part of the problem,” Paul thinks the docuseries is saying. Morgan wonders if Jill was roped into this without knowing fully what she was going to be part of bc in case you guys haven’t picked up on it yet, THAT’S WHAT HAPPENED TO PAUL AND MORGAN. Paul thinks she knew what she was getting into. Morgan thinks Jill looks like she’s still working through things with her family. Morgan says Jim Bob did some “messed up things to his children…Disgusting…money hungry…needs to be held accountable.” Morgan then mentions that she hasn’t finished Jinger’s book yet, so she’s definitely an expert. (2 hair touches)
33:00 – Morgan thinks it’s “interesting” that Jinger and Jill view their upbringing differently. Weird how people aren’t all the same! (2 bonus hair touches!)
33:30 – Paul said the docuseries made him start to look at the way he was raised to see if maybe there was anything fishy about it, so that’s positive, right?
34:00 – Oh, wait. Should have known better. He comes out of that experience with, welllllll Christians SHOULD be seen as extreme in some ways – the Bible talks about Christians being hated by the world, stench in the nostrils of unbelievers – so it’s totally fine, you guys. He’s embracing extremism now. “Wear it proudly! Pride month, baby!” Brb. Gotta go vomit.
34:45 – Paul begins talking about how he was just casually reading today in Acts – he's definitely not a Pharisee or anything. Side note: if he says “SoUrCeS” one more time with BIG air quotes, I will hit something. Paul’s takeaway from the story he just read today in the book of Acts (where the apostle Paul says he counts his life as forfeit) is that the sources in the docuseries (whom he doesn’t respect, SHOCKER) would tell him he should just be happy and stop being an extremist! Stop being an IDIOT, apostle Paul!
35:29 – Morgan says that Christianity in itself is extreme to the world. I’m loving where this is going. /s
She says the world is “self first” and Jesus is “serve first.” I definitely don’t think she understands that they very much put themselves first in everything they do; when was the last time you or Paul actually SERVED anyone else something besides cringey videos, Morgy?
35:50 – Paul says they could come into any strong, good church and make them look like a cult. Huh. Shouldn’t be that easy, my guy. Maybe try making it seem like less of a cult? For PR.
36:12 – Morgan – “Put intense music behind anything and it sounds crazy. Make a girl be like, ‘And then, I had to pee!’” fake crying, big hair touch
Paul – “And THIS church believes THIS about the LGBTQ – I mean, that’s what the Bible says” SHOW me where it says that, Paul. I’ll wait.
“And they believe THIS about women’s rights! Well, we believe that children are valuable in the womb” – just not once they’re out of it, right?
36:35 – They stand behind everything they said in the documentary!
37:00 – They’re going to homeschool poor Luca – shocker
37:12 – big hair touch, weird high-five-amen about not letting anyone else influence their child
37:25 – Paul rejects all that “evolution stuff” and then does this weird bit where he pretends to be meek and mild and say that if he actually cared what ppl think of him, he would act this way and say he believes in evolution to “save face”
38:00 – Morgan’s giggle makes me want to unalive myself
38:19 – Paul reads statement from his phone about how they don’t like being lumped in with super fundamentalists and how IBLP isn’t based on scripture, but man-made laws and wasn’t Gospel-focused. I feel like they’re about to do an altar call
39:05 – oh shit I was almost right – “It’s not works-based, there’s nothing you can do. Christ already did it for you.” “Amen. Amen. AY. Men.” Weird prayer hands by Morgan, who seems more out of it by the second.
39:16 – “Guys, give this video a thumbs up!” Yay, two Duggar-affiliated people followed them on Insta! Morgan does heart-hands about that
40:ish – Morgan encouraging ppl who think they might be in a church that twists the word to go to the BIBLEH for the TROOFS – Paul amen’s like four times. It IS a sermon, complete with scripture! My favorite!
41:ish (I’m tired, don’t judge) – weirdly sped-up talk about how they don’t get many brand deals bc they only put out Christian content (suuuuure THAT'S why, Jan), and Patreon is important! SUPER weird handshake and at the end they say “GO TEAM” and it’s just so cringe I can’t anymore thank goodness it’s over omgggggg
The total hair touch count was FIFTY (50!). You’re welcome.

2023.06.06 04:29 Clone54 Start before work lunch ideas
I come home for lunch on my hour break and I like to throw a chicken breast or a frozen burger on the grill but it's a rush the whole time and I don't really like that it feels so rushed to do it all.
I leave for work at 7:30 most days and I'm home at 12. I am looking for some ideas of something that I could throw in before I go that would work in that 4.5 h window that I have before lunch. Usually when I do chicken the 4+ hours is too long according to the time tables Google gives me.
I'd rather do sous vide if it's practical than a slow cooker. A lot of slow cooker recipes can be done on high for 4 hours but I don't really want a huge slow cooker pot of food for lunch.

2023.06.06 04:24 expertlyblended DB told me to “stop coming to work burnt out and tired”
I’m new to nannying and this is my first NF. I care for their two children 1 and 4, both boys. It’s a pretty stressful environment. Both MB and DB WFH and constantly check-in and micro-manage. I’m rarely alone with the kids. I can’t drive them anywhere. MB’s extended family is in town from overseas and staying at the house, which makes me feel like a bug under a microscope. I don’t get breaks since the oldest doesn’t nap. Recently I had a close family member suffer a stroke and I’ve been driving across state lines every weekend to visit her.
The oldest NK has some pretty major behavioral issues, to the point where the word “No” can prompt an hour-long meltdown. Today was a particularly rough day, and he ended up pushing his sibling down, causing him to bump his head. I intervened, took him to his room and listened to him scream for twenty minutes straight. (A family member took the younger NK). Eventually DB came in and took over, as per usual, and I went to go check on the other NK. Before I left, DB sat me down and said he “doesn’t want to sound like a jerk” but asked if I could just not come to work burnt out and tired. I was taken aback so I just kind of nodded and left. Now that I’m thinking on it, it’s got me a bit upset. I’m working five days a week with them and then spending my weekend either traveling or babysitting to make extra money so ends can meet. They know all about everything that’s happening in my life.
I just want to know if I’m being too sensitive here. Should I be doing something different? How do you guys deal with burnout and exhaustion? TIA.

2023.06.06 04:17 Venice_Bellamy I feel need to list red flags
It's in order of me thinking about it. I need this off my chest.
- The freezer in the back freezes shut, the exit button doesn't work. Sometimes, the door either shocks us or showers us in sparks.
- The rotisserie oven "backfires" aka flames shoot out of the heating element and there's a boom. The oven was put in seven years ago, turns out it's thirty years old. No replacement parts allegedly.
- There were exposed wires behind the fryers. The manager looked right at it. It was only fixed because corporate needed to time how long we filter the grease.
- There's black mold around the deathtrap freezer.
- My dept manager refuses to print the schedule that allows us to see who is coming in and when. Ex. I didn't know the cake decorator was on vacation.
- The bakery workers leave at four or five. Us deli workers are expected to take cake orders.
- The frail woman who works GM was in so much pain this weekend was laying in the floor in the breakroom. She keeps asking for a helper. (We keep losing pricing workers for same reason.)
- My coworker had a serious coughing fit in break room, the district manager shushed her.
- The deli manager leaves cold food on a cart pushed up against the very hot rotisserie oven and she doesn't want us putting the food back in the cooler. (Cold foods such as salad, cooked Asian food, cooked chicken and macaroni and cheese.
- Deli manager leaving bags of mac and cheese or mashed potatoes on top of the not hot oven instead of using the warmer. She'll also leave cooked chicken sitting inside not hot, open oven for hours.
- In 2020, co-manager went to Mardi Gras, got sick. He came back and had us all sign papers saying we wouldn't talk about Covid with each other or customers. He also tried to claim workers who tested positive we lying. He also tried to deny their leave because they were tested "in wrong place". Today, he told me he expected me to tell the truth and not lie to him like the other deli workers. We are NOT allies. Period.

2023.06.06 04:17 NiceSupermarket Is an old fling into me or is he just nice?
About five years ago I (26f) met a guy (30M) at parties/clubs. He works in nightlife. We hooked up twice in those 5 years. We’ve kept it pretty platonic, and lost touch when COVID happened, but I decided to reach out this year.
I saw him over the weekend, at a club, and I did want to hookup again, but neither him nor I had our apts free at the end of the night. At one point i went to the club for 10 min, then left to see my friend. He texted me asking when I’ll come back, and mind you we BARELY text or talk so it shocked me when he texted me.
I did come back 2 hours later. This is now 3 am. I’m about to leave so I tell him goodbye. He heads out too, has to pick up his brother, I wait for an Uber. Then he calls me just to talk and we talk for 30 min straight until I tell him my phone is dying.
It was odd bc like I said we barely spoke before, just see each other, say hi, fuck, that’s it. We didn’t talk too much. He knew I had an bf a year ago and was asking about him. Then we started talking about life, and he was Interested in why I ended my previous relationship. He also remembers certain details about when my bday is, where my parents are from, etc. that i was shocked he’d remember. We had a pretty deep conversation about our values in life.
I thought it was sweet but it was odd bc he works in nightlife so he prob sees a lot of pretty girls every night and I don’t know if he was just being a friend or if he’s into me more than just a fuck buddy.
He wants me to come out next week and I prob will bc I want to sleep with him, and he’s an old fling, but not necessarily looking to date again although I am into him.
Does it sound like he’s interested if he kept asking when I’m coming back to the club and talked with me on the phone? We never ever had a phone call and even then I was the one to end it he didn’t want to end the call.

2023.06.06 04:17 Ok_Mycologist_1938 Trying to Rebuild Trust
Hey all,
I've created a throwaway for this, but recently I have had some issues in my relationship and I am hoping that this community may be able to offer some advice. I'm not extremely familiar with the subreddit, so please feel free to pull this if any rules have been violated or to direct me to a better place to post. However, in the little time that I have lurked, I have found this subreddit to be populated by generous people who all seem to give reasonable advice. Due to the particulars of my situation, I think this may be the appropriate place to post and I would greatly appreciate any advice from more experienced members of this community. It's a bit of a long story, so thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
My fiance and I have been together for over five years. Altogether, we have a wonderful relationship. She is an absolute darling and I cannot imagine another person better suited for me. I believe she feels the same. We are recently engaged and I am overjoyed to be spending the rest of my life with her.
Throughout the course of our relationship we have had a policy of nonmonogamy. We both love each other greatly, but also understand that novelty and new experiences are attractive. Neither of us wants to feel betrayed by a natural urge to seek out someone else for a night or two. While we talk about this frequently, neither of us had found much cause to seek outside relationships. I have asked her to always tell me if she does find someone else she is interested in or chooses to sleep with, I feel as though openness is one of the only things that can sustain an open relationship, and I don't want to allow suspicion or resentment to corrupt our love.
In the past, when we first started dating, she had a few flings with some other men. The first she didn't tell me about until I confronted her with clear evidence. Following that discussion, she reaffirmed her intention to tell me if anything were to happen, so that suspcion does not take root.
I travel a lot and my last job had me out on a boat for three months. The conditions for both of us were not ideal, we both have a history of depression and both of us were experiencing a degree of it while we were separated. I was not able to give her the support she needed and I believe she may feel that she was somehow lacking in her support of me. Given the circumstances of the job and the grinding and unpleasant nature of those three months, I do not believe that she is at fault at all in this.
However, near the end of the contract, she told me that she had slept with a guy. My initial reaction was poor. I had hoped that there was an understanding that, even if we espoused nonmonogamy, we would see fit to remain monogamous while the other was away. I had turned down advances in the past over concern that she might feel jealous or insecure. Now, on reflection, I realize that that was an unfair assumption to make. If anything good has come out of this situation so far, it is the realization that we can continue this relationship, and practice nonmonogamy, without the need for jealousy. While my initial reaction was one of anger and insecurity, all born from jealousy and longing, I no longer feel that way. We were able to discuss the situation and I am very comfortable with the possibility of her sleeping with other people and with the fact that she has slept with this individual while I was out of town. In fact, I feel a degree of security in it, knowing that this will not destroy the relationship, that jealousy fades and does not need to come up again, and knowing that I am free to make advances and take up other advances without fear of harming my fiance.
I had asked her to, for the duration of the rest of my contract, refrain from sleeping with anyone else. I was feeling very insecure and wanted to be able to simply cap this episode until we had time to see each other and work through it. She agreed and, while I had suspicions, I believed her. Since I have been home she has told me that she had slept with a few others before this individual, people she had neglected to tell me about at the time, and that she had also continued to see this individual for a period of about a month after our initial discussion, all while assuring me that she was not. She had, one night soon after our first conversation, gone out drinking and later met up with this guy. When I had tried to call her that evening, we talked every evening, she had ignored the phone calls and turned off her phone. I was at a loss, stuck on a boat, and frantic. I thought she was dead on the side of the road, arrested for DUI, or seeing another person and cutting me out. Eventually, the next morning, I did speak to her. She lied, said that she had simply forgot to charge her phone.
That night sticks with me, it may seem hard to believe, but it is almost certainly the worst I have felt within our entire relationship. Eventually, when I was back home and believed we were being open and honest with each other, I asked her directly if she had been with another man that evening. She lied to me a few times, and then eventully told me the truth. Later that night she told me about the other people she had slept with while I was gone. I appreciate that she is being honest now, it's not something she had to come forward with, but I am extremely hurt by her lies of omission and commission.
I had been open and honest with my fiance throughout this period. I had poured my heart out and had been lied to about things we had promised to tell each other. I feel as though she has cheated on me, I feel betrayed and suspicious. I am not accustomed to feeling anger or insecurity with her, but I have been intermittently dominated by these emotions since this has begun to come out. She has promised to be honest in the future, and promised to be honest about anything that may have happened in the past, but I find it extremely hard to accept that. I often feel compelled to ask her if there is anything she is not telling me, or to ask her to talk with me about these previous episodes. My intention is not to bring up things that may hurt her, but I feel that the only way I will be able to accept and move through this period, to trust her again, is to be able to approach this from a position of complete and open honesty.
She has expressed many times that she is being honest. She has also expressed that she wishes we could just move on. This is the reason she has given for withholding information once I was back in town, and for not wanting to speak about this at any depth. There is nothing I want more than to move past this, but there are times when I cannot lay next to her without betrayal and anger boiling in me, when I cannot help but bring this up again and try to lay the details bare. I am afraid that I will push her away, or reinforce her sense that by being honest she is making me unhappy and harming our relationship. I do not want her to feel as though I am asking her not to sleep with anyone else, or to have to hide any relationships she does have. In order to bring closure I need to believe she is being honest and forthcoming, but I'm afraid my insistence upon this will drive her to dishonesty and widen the rift between us.
This woman is my world. I do not want to harm our relationship, and so I'm writing this post to seek help and advice from this community. I don't have friends who I would be able to discuss something like this with, I don't believe the conventional wisdom that someone cheating ought to end a relationship. However, I also feel torn and hurt and don't know how to digest and move past this. I want to spend the rest of my life with her. I cannot imagine allowing this to open a rift between us, but I also cannot bring myself to live in suspicion or insecurity.
I greatly appreciate all those who will take the time to read this, and I look forward to hearing from people who may have worked through a similar situation before or have any advice that they can offer. Thank you for your time and help.

Draven’s eyes squinted, and he sank deep within himself. Pulling on [Mind Supremacy], Draven blocked out the pain and focused on his inner flame. He pulled on his essence, charging up as much fire as he could. Flames licked the surface of his armor as he built up more flames with [Draconic Pyromancy].
New Mind Supremacy Technique! Pain suppressant
Draven opened his eyes, flames burning deep within them. He cried out as he unleashed the tightly packed fire he contained within himself. Flames exploded out of him, pushing the El’Dresi away from him.
The El’Dresi crossed his arms, blocking his face from the brunt of the flames. The explosion pushed him back, causing his exosuit to leave rough groves along the metal flooring.
“The little disciple has some bite to his bark,” the El’Dresi smiled. He disappeared in a flash of lightning again, using the Flash Step Technique of air dragonborn. The El’Dresi appeared before Draven again, blade zipping towards Draven's heart.
Draven’s heart skipped a beat as he channeled Essence to his Supremacy Talents and entered Ascendancy mode. The Sygaldry along his armor glowed a furry red, empowered by Draven’s Essence. He parried the El’Dresi’s blade and punched the air dragonborn with a fist of concussive fire.
The El’Dresi went sailing into the air, crashing into the ground with a bang.
“Draven, Sync up with me,” Sygvar said. He too had entered Ascendancy mode.
Draven pushed his mind into the Weave. He found the Sympathetic Thread connecting him and his Master. It was thick, a sign of their strong connection. He bound himself to it, allowing himself to become one with his master’s mind, body, and soul.
New Mind, Body, Soul Supremacy Technique! Sync Draven quickly entered the settings of his status and disabled notifications. He thought to leave them on before because he believed they could be helpful. But they were distracting him from the battle.
A wurl wind of air manifested around the El’Dresi as he floated to his feet in Acendecy Mode. The Sygaldry, runes of power, decorating his armor, were a blaze, a green glow emanating from the words of power.
“Now the real fun begins,” the El’Dresi crackled. He Flashed Stepped, disappearing again.
Draven sensed the El’Dresi through the Weave. He lashed out behind him, kicking the El’Dresi in the chest and pushing him towards Sygvar.
Sygvar kicked the legs from under the El’Dresi, causing him to fall.
Draven created a flame missile and fired it point-blank at the El’Dresi.
The El’Dresi conjured a blast of Air, causing the missile to bend off course and detonate into the ground.
He hopped to his feet, sending a chain of lightning at Sygvar.
Sygvar blocked it with his sword. He then heated his blade and cut into the armor of the El’Dresi.
The El’Dresi pulled back in pain.
Draven came from behind, delivering a cut to the El’Dresi’s leg. Causing the air dragon born to fall to his knee.
“You guys are good, too good. I guess I need a little help,” the El’Dresi said as he pressed a button.
“You talk too much,” Draven said, smacking the El’Dresi.
Gates squeaked open, and the ground began to rumble. Hollows came pouring into the room. Marrows ran on all four, with Spikes trailing just behind them. Bone Devils mixed in with the horde, pushing aside the weaker hollows to get to Draven and Sygvar.
The El’Dresi jumped to his feet and sprinted toward the incoming horde of hollows. Draven and his master raced after him before he could get to safety.
Draven unleashes a cone of fire. Superheating the air as it impacted the El’Dresi.
The El’Dresi conjured a shield of air, deflecting the blast of flames. And letting the momentum push him up and over the horde of hollows. He disappeared in the wave of bodies, crackling like a madman.
“Damn it,” Sygvar hissed. “Draven, stay close to me.”
Draven drew near his master. Only a few feet away from him.
“We’re going to clear a path towards the computer terminal. I want you to have Ari download the files off of it.” Sygvar yelled over the horde of hollows. His sword was ablaze with fire as he sliced throw a Marrow.
“The base will self-destruct in five minutes,” a voice boomed from speakers in the room.
“That bastard! Draven, don’t hold back! When need to get to that console!” Sygvar’s voice warped and deepened as his body transformed. His exosuit became more organic, melding to his body like a second skin. Wings and a tail sprouted from his back. His fingers and toes sharped into claws, and flames manifested on his arms and as a crown of fire above his head. Sygvar flew into the mob of feral mutants, becoming a living storm of fire and death.
Draven underwent a less impressive transformation. The red glow from the Sygaldry and flames manifested as jets along his arms and legs. The Hollows before him slowed as he sped up his perception time.
Plums of fire rocketed Draven into the horde of Hollows, following his master. His sword glowed as he sliced throw the feral mutants. The Marrows and Spikes were cut down like butter, but the Bone Devils were still challenging. But they were cut down in a few strikes while Draven was in his enhanced state.
The duo gradually cut their way toward the terminal. That’s when Draven got a spike of danger from the Weave. He was too slow and was slapped across the face by a giant claw. Draven backflipped, distancing himself from the new foe.
This creature was different than the others. This was a Wargoth, a mutant with the power of bone and muscle. Four muscular tentacles protruded from the creature's back. Segmented bone covered the spasming muscles as its tentacles wiped around. It roared, spitting saliva all over the ground. Then charged Draven, its four claws shaving the metal flooring.
Draven kicked the creature in the face, sending out a current of fire.
The Wargoth went sailing towards Sygvar. It lashed out its tentacles at the Master Al’Manti.
Sygvar’s blade ignited in flames, and it blurred, severing the Wargoth’s tentacles.
Draven came up from behind, stepping on telekinetic steps. He then rocketed downwards onto the Wargoth with a jet of flames. He concentrated, his flames burning hotter and hotter. Eventually ultimately shifting from their reddish yellow hue to a bright blue. His blade cracked the bone exoskeleton around the Wargoth’s skull, bathing the creature’s brain in blue flames.
The creature thrashed about in pain, then went still.
“Draven, go get the data!”
“On it,” Draven said as he sprinted to the console. He took out a cable from the back of the neck of his exosuit and plugged it into the console. “Ari download all the data from the storage.”
File after file zipped past Draven’s hud for his exosuit. The download only took a second to finish.
“I’m done, but the data must be decrypted,” Ari said.
“That’s fine,” Draven then unplug the cable leading from his suit to the console. He then ran over to his master, “All done.”
“Good,” Sygvar picked Draven up and then took to the sky with his wings. Above the increasing number of Hollows, Sygvar sped towards the exit. The hollows raged as they chased after the air-born duo. Quickly they exited the base, landing on Tywen’s back.
“Take to the sky, quickly!” Sygvar yelled as he set Draven down.
Tywen beat his wings, and they rapidly ascended. Soon after they left the ground, hollows poured out of the El’Dresi base. They swarmed the area they had just been. Then an explosion destroyed the hill the base was built into and the flora around it.
Draven opened his status and instantly dumped nine path points into his path.

2023.06.06 03:54 Extreme_Ad2239 Update: I had a no-fault break-up
Hey this is an Update from a
previous post I made so I recommend reading the full thing, but TLDR: I was in a really intense but short relationship that ended abruptly, and I was curious if I should try reaching out and maybe considering getting back together.
I did reach out. I didn't hear anything back for awhile, in fact a full seven days had elapsed. I had given up and was quite certain that I wasn't going to hear anything. The response I got was puzzling. She thanked me for being vulnerable and apologized for not talking to me sooner. Apparently she didn't know what to say. She also mentioned that space was "paramount to her wellbeing" but that if I wanted to talk she wo uld be willing. The message was a little counter-intuitive. I suggested that maybe I send her a letter instead, an approach she said she liked.
I did write the letter. I said everything I wanted to say. I asked the questions I wanted to ask. I told her I appreciated her. I also told her that I still loved her and wished I still had her in my life. I read the letter to my therapist and she said it was beautiful but it was "a lot", which kinda killed some of the confidence I had.
I spent a lot of time doubting myself afterwards. I didn't want to pare it down… that felt like it would kinda defeat the purpose of writing the letter in the first place. I didn't want to play it cool and be coy, I wanted to be honest and vulnerable, and hoped it would inspire her to maybe do the same.
While I was debating what to do I met someone on a dating app. She's nice and we went out on several dates, though we do not have a physical relationship of any kind yet. On one of the dates we went on we went for a drink after seeing a movie. It just so happened that said bar happened to be about 20 blocks from where F lives. F barely drinks (and I rarely do too) so I figured it'd probably be safe.
Unfortunately, I was very wrong about that. F was there and drinking with another guy. I'm not positive she saw me as we never made eye contact. However, I did stand around in the line about 15 feet from her table, so she must have. Based on the body language it didn't look like a date… but there is no way to know. Plus, I also was on a date, so obviously it would be unfair to be upset about that. However, I was just upset having seen her. I literally gasped when it registered in my mind that it was her. I explained the whole thing to my date. She seemed okay, but also told me that she can't help me through the break up which is fine… I don't want that from someone I've been going out with for two weeks. We left the bar and had a drink somewhere else before calling it a night.
I was haunted by having seen F though. Not because I was mad, but because I was sad that it wasn't me sitting with her. I didn't sleep for several days and canceled plans the next day with the new person. I needed to be alone. The day after I left town on a business trip. I brought the letter I wrote and mailed it from the city where I was staying. The package came with a tracking number so I know the letter arrived.
It's been a few days and I haven't heard anything back. I left the letter very open ended, basically saying if she doesn't want to talk to me that I understand and I love her anyway. I don't really know what to do about the other person I've been seeing, though we have talked a few times since that night.
I know I shouldn't expect to hear back. She probably thinks I'm an asshole for dating someone else and writing her love letters at the same time, even though I was the dumpee. Though I am trying to operate from a place of no expectations, I do wonder if I just fucked myself over. Might she have been able to take the letter more seriously had she not seen me out?
I guess in the end it doesn't matter. What happened happened and I can't do anything about that; this applies to the break up too. I seriously regret not discouraging her from breaking up with me. That was foolish. Still… I can't help but check my phone every five minutes just in case.

2023.06.06 03:50 Heavy-Manufacturer84 Is double vaginal penetration that much different from a really girthy dick?
Been married five years to a woman I love having sex with, and only recently has she admitted that since our daughter was born, sex has felt “loose” for her, and then told me she’d just recently started doing kegels to try to bring the sex back to the greatness she used to experience before our child.
I looked into it myself and found a lot of recommendations for pelvic physical therapy, and she’s got an appointment made already. In the meanwhile, we still have pretty kinky sex that I enjoy immensely, and I give her oral sex until climax every time we do the deed. She’s always been a fan of double penetration, and has a dildo that’s roughly similar in size to mine that we use in her vagina whenever I go in her butt. The other night though, I thought I was going into her butt and unknowingly penetrated her vagina alongside the dildo, and she protested at first, but didn’t use her safeword, so I basically told her to quiet down, and banged the hell out of her with a dildo under my dick for a good ten minutes.
I didn’t even realize that’s what had happened either. She had to basically ask for more later, and told me what I had done. I was confused as hell, because i didn’t even think DVP sex was a thing, but she assured me it was, and had me pull up porn showing two penises inside a vagina, even triple penetration with a guy in a girls ass and and two guys in her pussy. She assured me that she didn’t want two guys, just me and a dildo would be great,
Is there really that much difference between doing double vaginal penetration vs a fat dick? Cause if i just need to buy a huge dildo to help get her off from time to time, I got no problem with that either. I just worry she doesn’t want to hurt my feelings and make me feel like it’s a me problem by saying that.

2023.06.06 03:48 HulksmashHulks Ender 3 V2 Neo issue (brand new)
Hey there guys, long story short I have had around five or more ENDER three printers, and recently decided to finally upgrade to something nicer, which was the ender three V2 neo! But I’m experiencing a weird problem where my printer will randomly stop, and the extruder will basically park itself and if I just click literally any button, it will heat back up and resume the print. Does anybody know why it’s doing that and how I could fix that as I feel on some prints not printing all the way through can create a weak point and in general it’s just annoying to have to walk back at random times to check and see if I need to click that random button to finish out the rest of my print. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you greatly in advance!
PS: this is my second one as I ordered my first one from Amazon. It did the same thing, so I returned it after talking to Support, who told me to try and update software, which was a nightmare in itself for me honestly, but I figured it out and it ended up just making my printer screen freeze and do nothing else after that, so now I have another one but it does the same exact thing so I really am not trying to try and update the firmware again I’m really hoping it’s something simple.
Also, would love any suggestions for another printeunder around $500 area that prints really well as my under three literally I call it my trusty steed as I always will have one as a back up! ALWAYs (brand new one in the box right now just waiting to be used. :-) )

A fine drizzle was coming down on the town of Starlight Rose. A familiar wolf-kin beasta in red robes that appeared to be shimmering despite the cloudy gloom of the day was walking along the main road. In his right hand, he held a long polished oak staff, topped with a red glowing gemstone the size of his fist. In his left hand, held away from his body, was a tan leather satchel, the drawstring tied in a knot. It appeared full, and seemed to shudder and wriggle. Felixin smiled and nodded to passing villagers.
"Hey there, Felixin," came the rumbling voice of Earl Shatterknuckle. The blonde dwarf, presently wearing just simple brown leather trousers, fell in step beside his taller friend. Felixin looked down at the dwarf, whose smaller frame was bulging with muscles, with blue and gold glowing tattoos tracing intricate spider-web-like symbols across his chest and arms, smiling back.
"Good day to you, Earl," the wolf said. There was a spitting-chittering sound coming from the bag, making Felixin pause and frown before giving the satchel a good whack with his magical staff. "Quiet, you!" he hissed at it.
"Caught yourself another evil spirit, eh?" Earl said with a smirk.
"Oh yes, and this one was quite the nasty piece of work. I'm on my way back to my lab to properly dispose of it. I think it's from some destroyed remnant of Eld technology, one of the ones that gained sentience, or at least some spiritual semblance to it," Felixin said as he gave the bag another whack when it started to make some electronic beeping sounds.
"Oh?" Earl asked, curious. "I remember more than once we had some nasty run-ins with Eld-tech back when we were adventurers."
"I remember you and Melthi being the ones to turn the blasted machines on, both times when cautioned not to," Felixin said pointedly, making the dwarf chuckle.
"What can I say? We're both curious by nature!"
"Yes, that's one word for it," Felixin said with a smile, remembering his adventuring days and the party of friends he would regularly travel with. "Anyways. For some reason, about six years ago, they suddenly became much more prevalent. Thankfully, their numbers have been dropping back down over the years."
"What makes you think this one is from Eld tech?"
"It kept saying 'Does not compute!' over and over again, while also identifying some kind of rabbit threat." Felixin's mood seemed to shift and his ears laid back on his head, while his tail dipped, almost long enough to drag on the ground behind him. "And when it mentioned rabbits, it made me think of my little princess."
Earl rolled his eyes as he reached up and clapped the town wizard on the back. "Ah, Kiana'll be back to visit before you know it."
"I know... it's just, one minute she was this little delicate baby girl, and the next minute, she was this amazing young woman, all ready to up and go out."
"Didn't Kiana kick down a couple of brick walls when she was a baby?" Earl asked, scratching his head. Felixin waved a dismissive paw at that.
"Pure coincidences. Those walls were clearly unsound and improperly constructed, so much so that when she was having one of her tantrums just a little punch or kick was enough to send them tumbling down. We're lucky she wasn't hurt or scared, just confused and curious more than anything. Anyways, I just get so worried when I think of her, out there on the open road. Just so... vulnerable. Thankfully I made sure to instill in her a proper sense of caution." Earl snorted at that.
Meanwhile...
Kiana let out a roar of fury as her trusted tetsubo connected with the raised steel shield of the bandit before her. The metal dented and warped just as the bandit, shield and all, became airborne. They traveled in an arc straight towards a stone tower connected to an old run-down fort the bandits had holed up in. The screaming man smashed into the top of the tower, crumbling it, his screams instantly going silent.
"Fire!" Kiana heard a deep voice shout. There were several blasts and, thanks to Kiana's speed, she watched as five cannonballs headed in her direction. To the ordinary person, the black metallic spheres were probably nearly impossible to follow. To Kiana, it looked as though they were moving incredibly slow. She simply stepped aside from four of them, letting them explode into the nearby hillside. As the fifth one hurtled her way, she crouched slightly, raising her tetsubo like a baseball bat. She swung and smacked the cannonball, her tetsubo making a loud DING, and sent it flying right back where it had come from. The two bandits manning the cannon were obliterated along with the weapon itself, as well as a good chunk of the fort wall.
"She's some kind of demon!" one of the bandits cried. The man, really more of a boy, no older than Kiana, leapt down from the fort wall onto a carriage they had recently stolen from some traveling aristocrats. He then leapt onto the ground and sprinted out into the forest, stripping off the black cloak with the red eye in the center.
"DAMMIT!" the bandit leader cursed, pulling off his tricorn hat and dabbing his bald sweaty head with a handkerchief. While the remaining men were busy barring the windows or reloading and firing the cannons, he was gnashing his teeth. After a moment's hesitation, he pointed to a nearby subordinate. "You! Follow me. We'll unleash the troll on her."
The other bandit paled, audibly gulping. "Th-the troll? Are you sure th-that's wise?" Just as he finished asking that, another cannonball destroyed another cannon, making the entire structure shudder.
"We don't have any other options. Hopefully, after it kills her, it'll be injured enough for us to finish it off... or the other way around if she kills it." The other bandit grimaced at the options laid before them, but nodded solemnly. Outside, Kiana smacked another cannonball back at the cannon that fired it, being careful not to send it flying towards the base of the tower. According to one of the kidnapped merchants that had managed to escape and make it all the way to town, the cells where the bandits were holding their ransom victims were all on the ground floor. Kiana stopped when she heard a loud guttural roar, followed by a rapid series of loud BOOMs. Bandits ran by the windows and open holes of the fort, while the front gate slowly opened.
Out stumbled a massive creature. Its flesh was a dark brown, and had a texture not unlike tree bark. Its long arms and legs were thicker than the old oak trees in the forest near Starlight Rose. Its gnarled hands, with thick thorn-like protrusions sticking from the knuckles, balled into fists, fists that were as big as Kiana was tall. Its barrel-chest heaved, with white criss-crossing scars in its bark-flesh. It didn't have much in the way of a neck, and its head looked just like a tree stump, complete with root-like tendrils wriggling back and forth. It's mouth was partially concealed by the tendrils, until it reared back and opened its gaping maw, revealing rows of broken yellow teeth, to let out a bellow that shook the ground. From the top of its head grew two slightly spiraling branch-like horns.
"These idiots somehow managed to get a forest troll?" Kiana asked out loud, a smirk appearing on her face. "And this was only a gold-ranked quest? Something tells me I'm in for a sweet bonus."
The beast stopped as its knot-like eyes, of which there were at least seven, caught sight of the bunny girl. Up above from the second story windows and holes and from on the roof, the remaining bandits, many of them injured, looked down. Most were smirking, some of the more foolish ones shouted out taunts. The bandit leader stood there, looking grim-faced, but taking some satisfaction in knowing that despite their losses today, the annoying source of their problems was about to end, one way or another.
Kiana stuck the end of her tetsubo into the dirt, large and surprisingly quick thudding steps shaking the ground. The beast was lumbering towards Kiana, who didn't look the least bit afraid. While not intelligent enough to be truly sentient, the troll did have enough sense to know that its prey should be running. And the fact that it was just calmly standing there, staring at it, only angered it further. With a final roar, the forest troll charged forward. It balled up a massive fist, and swung straight for Kiana. Kiana swung her own fist, the two colliding.
There was a very loud, sickening crunch and pop. The bandits looked down in shock and horror as where the now screaming troll's fist and forearm had been, there was a bloody and jagged stump that ended just above the right elbow. The troll screeched and lunged at Kiana, hoping to impale her on its horns. But the bunny girl simply kicked, knocking the head clean off the rest of its body. The head bounced off a tree and rolled for a bit, settling in the dirt, a look of surprise on the stump-like face. The rest of the body tumbled over three times before coming to a rest near the make-shift stables, where the carriages and horses of the abducted nobles were kept. Kiana looked back up at the fort, making the majority of the bandits shrink back and shudder. A few of them began to wave white tablecloths hastily tied to sticks and tree branches.
A short time later the bandits, now in shackles, were being marched to the mechanical cart as the local sheriff and his deputies led them. Except for the severely injured ones, who were shackled to stretchers and loaded up into a seperate mechanical carriage. Kiana looked on as bodies were checked for possible survivors, there being very few to find, as the merchants and a few nobles were led by deputies out from the fort. Kiana smiled at them and nodded to their looks of awe, some of them having gotten a good look at the show of force the petite bunny girl had demonstrated. Ignoring the ones who shrank back away from her in fright, Kiana spotted the sheriff, a large older man in his mid-fifties with salt and pepper close-cropped hair and a matching mustache. He was wearing the classic green cloak, directing his deputies. He turned to face her as she approached.
"I think that's all cleared up," Kiana said, her voice chipper, belaying the fact she had a smattering of blood and gore staining her fur.
"I'd have to agree with you, young lady," Sheriff Tonsol said, his voice even. In truth, he had tried to avoid enlisting the aid of any adventurers until pressure from various merchants and nobility forced his hand. And even then he had expected it to involve a large party and, more than likely, some lives lost from the hostages. He was a little surprised when the girl reached into her satchel to produce a clipboard with a form on it, as well as an ink pen.
"In that case, would you mind signing this form indicating that I completed the job satisfactorily?" Tonsol looked at the form for a minute, and then his mouth curved upwards. He let out a chuckle and signed his name on the indicated line, writing in the date as well.
"Satisfactorily is putting it lightly, miss," he said, handing the clipboard and pen back to the bunny girl. "I had no idea that they had a forest troll in their possession. I went ahead and bumped up the reward."
"Oh wow, thank you, sir!" Kiana said, looking excited.
Tonsol smiled, something his deputies claimed to be a rare sight to behold. "Well, you earned it. I'm just glad you were able to get them to surrender without harming any hostages. Well, without them harming any more than the ones they did last time someone came out here to free them."
"I'm glad I could help!" Kiana said, bowing a little. "Now, I'm going to head back into town." She spread her arms wide and indicated to herself. "I'm really in need of a bath at this point."
"If you don't mind waiting a minute, you can ride back to town with us. It's faster than walking."
"Oh, thanks for the offer, but I'm good." Kiana waved, before jogging back to where she'd left her tetsubo and pack, Mirabelle coiled around it protectively. She grabbed the items up, quickly looking through the travel pack to make sure she still had everything, and nodded to herself, satisfied. She slipped the pack onto her back, then scooped her pet snake into her arms, and started to jog down the road in the direction of the town of Hengecliffe. Picking up speed, she rapidly became a blur, and in just a few seconds she was coming to a sliding stop in front of the town gates, startling a couple of bored-looking guards.
She greeted them and let Mirabelle down before they let her inside. They stared at the snake with the big pink ribbon around its neck slithering obediently behind the bunny girl. She stopped off at the local guild hall to drop off the signed paperwork and collect her now even heftier reward. She noticed a few stares in her general direction, and some unhappy grumbling from some fellow adventurers, but otherwise no one said anything.
Kiana then headed to the town inn where she still had a room for another night. Thankful again that this world had indoor plumbing, with hot water to boot, Kiana wasted no time in stripping off her gore-coated clothes, which she would wash in the laundry room down the hall, and enjoyed a nice steamy shower. She didn't have to worry about possible intruders, as Mirabelle sat coiled on the bed, ever vigilant.
"Today was a good day," Kiana said, stepping out of the shower and drying herself off, a feat that took several minutes with a towel. This left her gray and white fur all fluffed-out, which led to her brushing it out. Kiana had grown accustomed to the care and maintenance of her fur, taking pride in keeping it clean. She then donned her underwear and a cream-colored sundress from her pack, carefully putting her dirty clothes in the laundry sack in her pack. She smiled and stroked Mirabelle's head, the snake letting out a contented purr-like hiss.
"I'm going to go out and enjoy the rest of the afternoon in town. You stay here and guard the pack, okay?" she asked, slipping her mithril knuckles into her dress pockets, along with a small money pouch. Mirabelle hissed, thumping her tail on the bed in response, curling up tighter around Kiana's belongings.
"Good girl," she praised, before heading out, locking the door behind herself for good measure. Kiana smiled as she stepped out onto the paved sidewalk, carriages passing by on the street. Hengecliffe was much larger than Starlight Rose, with paved streets and even streetlights. Centrally located in a region of plains, it served as a trading hub. Kiana walked along, noticing a few men and women looking her over. Some seemed to do so with distaste, more than likely not enjoying the sight of a beasta. But most seemed to be pleasant people observing a new face.
"Well now, if my eyes are not deceiving me, it seems that an angel from the heavens has decided to grace us mere mortals with her presence." Kiana's ears twitched at the sound of the male voice. She paused and turned, looking down an alley, where a man leaning up against the side of a building stood, looking her over. He was wearing brown leather trousers, a white linen shirt, and a belt with a large buckle which, matching the large buckles on his boots, made him look a bit like a pirate. The goatee and the cutlass sheathed at his side were also not helping.
"Hello, beautiful," he said, giving Kiana a wink. Kiana rolled her eyes, and moved to keep walking, only to find a squat bald man standing in her way, grinning sinisterly. Kiana checked behind herself and saw another man, a larger one with a completely shaved head, arms crossed with a club under one arm. "Now, how about we all go somewhere more... private," the pirate-looking moron asked, giving Kiana a smug wink.
"Wow, you idiots have no idea just how badly you messed up," Kiana said, walking into the alley, the two guys following right behind her. The men chuckled. Passersby stopped when they heard three loud thuds coming from the alley, all of which made the nearby buildings shudder. They saw a bunny beasta girl walking out, brushing some dust off her sundress. She smiled and waved and continued on her way, leaving behind three broken figures. Two were lying in craters in the pavement of the alley, while the third, this one with a cutlass laying at his booted feet, was standing... his head laying all the way back in a hole in the brick wall right behind him.
Later that evening...
Kiana was sitting just outside the town walls on a hill, watching the stars come out. After sixteen years, it still mystified her to look up at the night sky, and not see any of the old constellations. She smiled as a shooting star streaked its way across the sky. Suddenly, Kiana felt a surge of energy just course through her. Her eyes faintly started to glow with the blue light, and she felt a strange pulsing in her chest. Looking around, she felt a strange magnetic pull coming from the south.
Starting as a jog, Kiana soon found herself sprinting outright across the countryside. She ran, as a blur, following the pull, her eyes gradually glowing brighter and brighter, shining with the crackling blue energy. Then, she came to a stop. She stood at the foot of a mountain, itself part of a larger range. Looking up at the mass of rock and ice, she could see broiling clouds up over it, flashes of lightning briefly illuminating the rocky and snowy peaks. With one such flash, Kiana saw something move. Something big. Kiana's glowing eyes went wide.
"Oh wooooooooow," she said, her jaw hanging open. There were rumbles as the giant coiled mass shifted. Several avalanches were caused by the serpentine body, buried under tons and tons of snow. At the very peak of the mountain, a gargantuan head rose.
"Is that a giant... cobra?" Kiana asked under her breath. Indeed, that was what the creature that seemed to dwarf the Spire appeared to be. In the light of the lightning, she saw that its scales were a deep blue, almost purple. There were stripes running down its back, but they were glowing a bright bioluminescent blue. That same glow radiated from the creature's reptilian eyes, and the inside of its hood. The same glowing blue as Kiana's eyes.
"What... are you?" Kiana asked, quietly.
I can ask the same of you, little one, a deep female voice hissed in Kiana's head. She winced and looked around. She then looked back up at the creature, her veins flooded with adrenaline. There was another flash of lightning, and in that very instant, the creature's head was bent down low, right in front of her. Kiana almost jumped back, but stopped herself. As the snake-entity looked her over with an eye that was twice as tall as she was, Kiana felt a sense of calm overtake her.
"Are you... a storm dragon? A real storm dragon?" Kiana asked, reaching out and touching the creature's cheek with her hand. It flicked out a blood red tongue, its mouth curling up a little at the corners.
That is something that little ones like to call my kind, she said. Kiana figured right then and there that this was a female.
"A monk said that... my spirit is like one of yours," Kiana said, breathlessly.
Your soulsong feels similar to one of our kind, little one, she said, turning her head and gently nuzzling the top of Kiana's head, making her ears lay flat. The storm dragon's head was almost as large as the entirety of her hometown.
"My... soulsong?" Kiana asked. The monk she had met hadn't said anything about them.
The song of your innermost being. It stands out from the loud and noisy cacophony that happens when most little ones gather together in large groups. Yours is beautiful, and a little... fluttery. The dragon gave her a wink. She reared up and opened her mouth. Electricity danced between the dragon's fangs, before she shot out a sonic boom. The raging storm above abated, the clouds dispersing, leaving only a crystal clear night sky for miles and miles around. She then turned and looked down at Kiana. The bunny girl felt the storm dragon's gaze. She felt a radiating warmth coming from her. It reminded Kiana of her mother.
It was so nice to meet you, little one. It was quite the pleasant surprise to awaken to. She let out a proud roar, and her body began to undulate. Sections of the mountain range began to crumble as large sections of mountain were crushed and smashed by the body slamming into them. The body of the dragon rose into the air, beginning to gracefully slither about. Levitating there, partially coiled, the sheer size of the storm dragon just boggled the bunny girl's mind.
"Will I see you again?" Kiana asked, feeling a little sad. She had just met this beautiful and amazing being, and already they were leaving.
Of course, little one, the mental voice in her mind chuckled warmly.
I have listened to your beautiful soulsong, and I have shared my soulsong with you.
"I... I don't understand what that means," Kiana said, confused.
You will, little one, she said,
you are still young, but my soulsong has resonated within you. When you stop and listen, it will become easier and easier to hear it. And thus, the bond has begun to form. In time, you shall understand. With a flick of the creature's tail, there was a flash of lightning that radiated from within the hood, and she was gone. Kiana stood there, her eyes readjusting to the dark.
"This world is so awesome," she said, a smile on her face, as she began to job back towards town. She figured that if the town gates were closed and locked, she could just jump over the wall.
Meanwhile...
The lone figure stood in the dark, staring at where the great serpent had been levitating. They were sitting on a log in a small clearing, where they had set up camp. The individual in question was polishing their armor when a gray blur had shot right past them. And then, where it had been heading, the giant serpent, an actual storm dragon, arose. They sat there in stunned silence. They knew right then and there, that it had been a sign from the gods. As they unsheathed their katana, it began to thrum with magical energy, the blade becoming engulfed in bright purple flames.
The light of the purple flames illuminated his green face, glinting off his polished tusks. "Soon, the war shall begin," said the orc, sheathing the blade and cutting off its purple light. The same purple light shone from his eyes.
